Hiking fuel prices, terrible roads, rain, long traffic jams, bodaboda and bajaji everywhere, and crowded daladalas.

Honored to attend the 2nd @WFNSHQ & 1st #ISGNS Global Neurosurgery Conference in Dar es Salaam. As a @cosecsa surgical resident, I gained a new perspective on global neurosurgery, built meaningful connections, and feel more driven to improve access to safe neurosurgical care.
A word of advice to health professionals:
A good Master of Public Health is absolutely worth it.
It changes how you think, how you practice, and how you value the work you do.
You do not need to plan a career in public health before pursuing an MPH.
A recent survey of 376 healthcare professionals revealed that 63% DID NOT understand the concept of a p-value.
Do you think you can pass the P-value explanation test❓
Are you part of the 63%?
Let's break it down in simpler terms…
It's truly fascinating meeting the mentor's mentor and seeing how influential their role and impact has been down the generations.
That's what I just experienced.
Thank to you for such an impact with your roles in medicine.

To every 1st generation doctor in the family….
You are not just building a career.
You are building a foundation your family never had before, you did not inherit a clinic, you did not inherit a patient base.
You did not inherit medical guidance at home.
Honoured by this recognition from Meridian Letters.
This reflects the dedication of the Africa CDC team and our partners across the continent as we advance Africa’s health security and sovereignty. Proud of the progress we are making together.

Alcohol & Diabetes:
If you have diabetes, alcohol can be risky—especially hours after drinking.
In Africa, diabetes causes about 216,000 deaths every year. That is one death about every 2½ minutes.
If you drink:
· Choose dry wine or spirits without sugar
❌ Avoid beer and sweet drinks
Safety rules:
· Never drink on an empty stomach
· Limit to 1 drink (women), 1–2 drinks (men)
· Do not skip insulin or medicines
· Check blood sugar before sleep
· Watch for late low sugar (6–24 hours later)
· Do not drink alone
If you have diabetes, the safest option is not to drink at all.

“Passion” is not a substitute for safe working conditions.
Yes, many junior doctors are deeply committed.
But chronic underpay, burnout, and unsafe workloads do not produce better care.
They produce errors, exits, and brain drain.
A health system that depends on doctors being “poor” to stay passionate is not a health system. It is exploitation.
If we want consistent, high-quality care, we should pay fairly, staff adequately, and equip facilities properly.
