Dark personality (psychopaths, narcissists, coercive controllers) as parents….
1. Will often choose a child to ‘sacrifice’ and implement the isolation tactic with them that dark personality love. This tactic involves undermining the child to family and friends and engaging other tactics - lying, manipulating, playing the victim - so the child has no support at all. The family engages in a campaign against the targeted child which involves emotional, psychological, social and even physical abuse. It is truly the most horrific of situations which a child may grow up in. It is often initiated when a child starts to expose the dark personality parent or where the dark personality parent is jealous of the child.
2. Will often pit children against each other in an effort to get them to over-perform but also to ensure they won’t gang up to expose the parent.
3. Are more likely than the rest of the population to sexually abuse their own children as dark personality have no sexual boundaries.
4. Are willing to compromise or sacrifice their children to achieve their own goals.
5. Will often ‘tie’ a child to them by being particularly supportive but also playing on the child’s sense of guilt ie using manipulation for control.
