i used to hate it too but honestly over the time i’ve realised that being compassionate and embarrassing yourself in pursuit of love in times like today’s is an act of bravery so i give myself more grace even though my love was unrequited.
At some point in mental illness you stop going “I’m so sorry it’s because of the depression/autism/adhd” and start going “I’m not well in the head. I do what I want. Stay out of my way” and this, ironically, will massively improve your day-to-day mental health
I keep a rolling Notes doc called "Good things are always happening to me" and update it whenever I realize a good thing totally just happened to me. Good things are always happening to us.
Imagine winning a national championship with your boys in college and then getting together to win an NBA championship a few years later.
Just an insane story for the Nova Knicks
2010. South Africa. They said theft will be at an all-time high. Unsafe for world cup. Didn't happen.
2014. Brazil. Complained about some of the remote places the venues were. Unsafe for players. Didn't happen.
2018. Russia. "It's not a democracy". There would be marginalization. People would not even be free or allowed entry. Didn't happen.
2022. Qatar. " Slave built stadiums ". A morally bankrupt nation. " It cannot be fun". The tournament is horrible. No alcohols. Religious intolerance. Didn't happen.
2026. US. All the above happening.
We see.
As a neurodivergent, you don't actually want a "normal" life.
You want:
• mornings that don't begin in panic
• work that doesn't require constant masking
• friendships that feel safe instead of exhausting
• enough money to live without chronic stress
• a home that feels like a refuge, not another responsibility
• time to pursue interests without guilt
• permission to exist without explanation
Most neurodivergent people aren't asking for special treatment.
They're asking for a life that doesn't require them to fight their own brain every single day.
You’re not competing with anyone. Get out of your head. Just show up. Do what you know you need to do. It’s not that complicated. In fact, it is painfully simple. So simple, your mind can hardly tolerate it. So, it invents stories and narratives that make it seem more complicated than it is to justify your inaction and avoidance. These are illusions. They are fuelled by fear. They only work when you let yourself believe the world is scarce, that you are ‘behind’, that what you would do would not be good enough, that you’re not ready. Don’t fall for any of it. Just be present, notice what is true, do what is needed, rest when you’re done. And then repeat.
realizing you can't just labor your way into financial freedom is terrifying. hard work alone isn't enough anymore, there is a whole different system at play.
LIFE WAS MEANT TO BE ENJOYED
Everyone’s depressed. Miserable. Sad. Unmotivated. Low-energy. Unsatisfied. Stressed. Lonely. Purposeless. Empty.
Because they never truly lived.
Appreciate the little things. Go for long walks. Come home late. Enjoy the beauty around you. Don’t take life seriously. Find your purpose. Embrace leisure. Fear nothing. Achieve the ultimate freedom. It always works out.
You must unlearn everything they taught you so you can understand why you’re here.
Win. Laugh. Enjoy.
how to avoid becoming a soulless adult:
> stop making everything productive - not every hobby needs to "go somewhere"
> it’s ok to try something new and be bad at it!! you’re not being graded anymore!!
> say yes to spontaneous plans even when you're tired - some of the best nights are unplanned
> hang out with people who make you laugh, not just people who "make sense"
> stop asking yourself "what do I want to do with my life" (too overwhelming) -> START asking "what would make me feel alive THIS MONTH?" & go make it happen
> cap venting to 30% of your total hang time; your friends aren't free therapy
> plan ONE thing each week that you'd look forward to
> you can start simple - work somewhere new, walk somewhere new, eat something new
> take a random class just for fun - pottery, dance, improv, cooking
> do things that make you feel like a kid again - dance in the rain, run through the sprinklers, game night
> surround yourself with people who make you feel lighter - your time and energy is precious
> be 5% more silly in your life. sing badly in the car, dance in your room, crack a bad joke. let's grow the silly muscle
> talk to strangers - at coffee shops, events, literally anywhere. serendipity maxx
> don't forget the basics: move your body, get sunlight, take your vitamins, eat well, sleep
> your time to live life is happening NOW so stop saving it for later!!
we forgot that life is supposed to be FUN ya'll
lets go PLAY!!!
you got this!!!
