@MichelleDoerks1@ctvottawa A good reporter would have asked what she's doing to improve her situation. My opinion. Let's agree to disagree, it's called democracy. Have a good night.
@MichelleDoerks1@ctvottawa She agreed to be interviewed for a story advocating for more tax dollars for the shelter system. She said she's relying on OW and her eldest son's salary from a fast food restaurant, which is $4,000 per month, but she said it isn't enough. She also said that they have cars. 2/
@MichelleDoerks1@ctvottawa She disclosed her history when she stated that she's a PSW who quit her job after Covid for mental health reasons and is now relying on OW. Why is she relying on OW, and has she had therapy are reasonable questions. Where's dad? Child support? CCB? Lots of unanswered questions.
@MichelleDoerks1@ctvottawa The story is advocating for more money (more tax dollars). Taxpayers are entitled to know how taxes are spent. Maybe all she needs is counseling. The point is that these questions should be asked. If she doesn't want to answer, then CTV should find someone who does.
@MichelleDoerks1@ctvottawa Her eldest son works full time in a fast food restaurant. He managed to get a job, despite systematic barriers. Why can't she work in the same restaurant? As I said, lots of unanswered questions.
@SnowHimbo@ctvottawa The story isn't about me. The story is about a family that was living in a tent, but is now staying with friends. So, has she applied for any jobs? Also, where were they living in the winter? Our winter was very cold, and we had lots of snow. Something doesn't add up.
@trevor_slatery Some perspective, these masks are designed so that people with hearing loss/deaf can read lips. I have a hearing aid, it was very frustrating trying to have conversations through masks. And no, I wouldn't want to see him knocking on my door.
@ctvottawa They should already have child care, even if they're WFH. They're being paid to work, not look after their children. I'm fed up calling gov't employees and hearing children, dogs etc. in the background. Back to the office.
@kinsellawarren CPP increased by 2% January 2026. MP's salary increase should be the same as CPP. ALL monies paid by gov't should use the same CPI Indexation increase - CPP, OAS, GIS, CCB, MP's, MPP's, Disability, and all govt employees.
@TheTorontoSun This issue came up during contract negotiations and the gov't refused to capitulate to union demands. PSAC recommended that members ratify the contract. They did. PSAC needs to accept the contract they agreed to. They can start negotiating WFH/RTO when this contract expires.
@globalnews PSAC membership voted to accept a contract that has the employer deciding on the work location. If work location was so important, why did PSAC recommend accepting the contract? Accept the current contact, and start new negotiations when this contract ends.
@Cmdr_Hadfield@NASA How does NASA deal with the lower gravity on the moon? How long will a crew be able to live on the moon? It will be amazing to see the pics/videos of the dark side of the moon? And hopefully the moon landing mission will be soon. 🚀🌓
@JonFraserTF@environmentca Yeah, this is so stupid. I mean, are our fur babies in heaven peeing on the snow before it comes down? And then orange snow?
