Goalies, your hips are more than just joints - they're performance powerhouses. Strengthening them can reduce injury risk and boost agility. Coaches, prioritize hip health for a stronger crease presence. Great article from Physiotherapist @Tscarr4. https://t.co/scqCiHZX2I

This is absolutely heartbreaking news. We send our deepest condolences to the Gaudreau family, as well as his teammates, Columbus’ organization and fans.
In the last month, I have gotten roughly 10 inquiries about training athletes, both in person and online for kids, aged 7-10.
I don’t want to compete with myself here, but I’m also in this field for the right reasons so trust me…
Your 7-10 year does not need structured training with me at my facility or online outside of 👇
Go outside. Play sports. Sprint in the grass. Climb things. Jump. Throw. Land. Jump and twist in the air. Skip. Bound. Don’t do a ton of slow jogging. Do some air squats/ push ups. Sprint hills. Play tag. Make up a game. Sprint some more.
If you trust me, come back to me at 11-12 and we can talk about “learning to train” in the weight room.
Is your testing actually making an influence on what you're going to intervene on with your hockey players?
Or are you just collecting data for data?
@JZ_Sawicki and the hockey crew at Shattuck are doing a lot of great things that move the needle.
Awesome convo with Shattuck-St. Mary's Director of Sports Medicine (@JZ_Sawicki) this morning!
We’ll look to drop this episode in the next week or so!
Thanks for coming on, Joe!
When we started the podcast, Sportsnet asked if I wanted to do it myself or have a co-host. I liked the idea of playing off someone; @moorescottmoore suggested Jeff Marek.
It was brilliant. Jeff has his loopy suggestions, but they made for fun debates and great moments.
Life throws curveballs at you. I will miss being his teammate, and thank him for being a tremendous co-pilot on the start to our 32 Thoughts podcasting voyage — which will continue.
Interpretation of hip/groin MRI must be made in conjunction with a clinical examination because up to 77% of asymptomatic high-level players have objective imaging abnormalities! Silvis et al - 2011
Treat the player, not the scan!
Episode #9 is live! On today's episode, we spoke in detail about one of the most common injuries in hockey: AC joint injuries. Link to the show is in our bio. @dooley4@Tscarr4
We will be having an upcoming podcast discussing AC joint injuries. If you've been working with any contact athletes over the years, you'll be familiar with the Rockwood classification model. However, maybe you need the review. See here:

Mollon et al. Looking at high ankle sprains in ice hockey players (prognosis and correlation between MRI patterns of injury and RTP):
High ankle sprains were seen the most in forwards (59%), then defensemen (34%) and goalies (7%).
Mouthguards were associated with a 28% reduced concussion rate in #hockey across all age groups, indicating that mouthguards should be mandated in child and adolescent ice hockey and supported at all levels of play.
