Most farm animals are transported at least once during their lifetime. Their welfare during transport is a complex and multi-faceted topic. WOAH has developed standards to help countries ensure animal welfare during transport.
In the Observatory's latest survey, we analysed if Veterinary Authorities were implementing WOAH standards on animal welfare during transport. The results are out: https://t.co/gN05EDHCHd

In episode 3, we shine the light on a foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak in 2001 that took a terrible toll on the #UK.
UK's 2001 FMD outbreak, devastating in its impact, is proof that dealing with disease outbreaks requires a whole-of-government response. Since the outbreak, working collaboratively with other government agencies in their prevention efforts has paid off for the UK.
The highlights from our latest African swine fever (ASF) report for 15 July - 4 August, 2024:
- No new outbreak was reported by the Americas, Africa, or Oceania.
- 60 new outbreaks in domestic pigs and 98 in wild boar, in Asia and Europe.
- The situation in Bhutan is deteriorating; the disease has spread to new areas.
