Arrival of the US Delegation for Islamabad Talks

As the Islamabad Talks commenced today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with His Excellency JD Vance, Vice President of the United States of America.

The U.S. Vice President was assisted by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Sen. Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

Commending the commitment of both delegations to engage constructively, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that these talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan looks forward to continue its facilitation of both sides in making progress towards sustainable peace in the region.

Pakistan welcomes all delegates including journalists from participating nations, traveling in relation to Islamabad Talks 2026. To this end, all airlines are requested to permit boarding to all such individuals without Visa. Immigration authorities in Pakistan will issue them Visa on Arrival.

With effect from Monday, 08 July 2024, Apostille legalization process will open for walk-ins at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its liaison offices at Lahore and Karachi. 𝐍𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝.

The new fee structure for Apostille certification is as follows:

1. Personal and Educational Documents - Rs. 3,000/- per document
2. Legal Documents - Rs. 4,500/- per document
3. Commercial Documents - Rs. 12,000/- per document

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 today met the Acting Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Bagheri on the margins of the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers held in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The two leaders discussed the situation arising out of ongoing Israeli bombardment and targeting of refugee camps in Rafah in the Gaza Strip. They called for urgent measures to bring an immediate end to Israeli aggression, its incessant crimes against humanity and violation of international humanitarian law.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's strong commitment with the people of Palestine and their right to self-determination.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister fondly recalled the successful visit of late President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan in April 2024 and the important understandings reached during the visit. He also commended the role played by President Raisi and late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in further deepening Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations.

The two Ministers expressed satisfaction over the trajectory of bilateral relations marked by increased high-level exchanges in political, economic, defence and security and intelligence spheres. They reaffirmed commitment and resolve to continued strengthening of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and dialogue between the Pakistan and Iran.

The Acting Foreign Minister of Iran congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Dar on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for Iran’s support and the desire for working together to uphold international law and the UN Charter.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, @MIshaqDar50 today, addressed the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting being held in Astana, Kazakhstan from 20-21 May 2024. In his statement, the Deputy Prime Minister:

🔴 Reiterated Pakistan’s firm adherence to the SCO Charter.

🔴 Underlined Pakistan’s priorities as the current Chair of SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) which include promoting connectivity, transport links, youth empowerment, poverty alleviation, and enhanced practical cooperation among SCO member States.

🔴 Emphasized people’s right to self-determination and peaceful settlement of longstanding disputes in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

🔴 Advocated a multipolar world firmly grounded in multilateralism.

🔴 Stressed the need for combating terrorism through collective and cooperative approaches.

🔴 Strongly condemned the barbaric Israeli onslaught in Gaza and called for an unconditional and urgent ceasefire and unhindered provision of humanitarian assistance.

🔴 Underlined the significance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for regional connectivity and economic integration.
