How you write is as important as what you're writing about. You don't need to be Shakespeare, but word choice matters. Sentence structure matters. Choice of imagery matters. There are a thousand descriptions you could use--think about why you're using one or the other.

Reading builds up your arsenal as a writer. Read old books, read new books. Read classics from your own country and countries you've never been to. Even read bad books-they can be a teaching experience. Read everything you can, and read intentionally.
