Our big smoke volatility paper is out! We flew a thermal denuder and showed good agreement with lab VBS. This closes much of the gap in the OA/CO differences between airborne and ground studies

CIRES' Guy Symonds, Doug Day, and Pedro Campuzano recently traveled overseas to support the NASA-led Airborne and Satellite Investigation of Asian Air Quality (ASIA-AQ) mission. @JgrpBoulder@CUBoulder
Learn more about ASIA-AQ: https://t.co/SoidEyZ7gb
For the past 2 months, we have been participating in the ASIA-AQ @NASAAirborne mission https://t.co/TSSP0kEVvE
to study AQ in Asia (Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand) with a focus on urban and biomass burning pollution.
Come learn about our work on sources of SOA vs volatility classes in LA using a novel tubing+OFR technique!

1/ We just installed an (outdoor) volatile organic compound (VOC) real time instrument at the Denver site of @NSF@ASCENT_USA measurement network
We are very grateful to @tofwerk, who's lending it to us for a month & to @CDPHE who is our host
Here w/ the ASCENT instruments
Virtual Special Issue “Advances in Atmospheric Chemical and Physical Processes” Edited by J. Burkholder + J. Orlando out in @JPhysChem A.
Many insightful papers on chem kinetics, rxn mechs, hetero/interface proc, aqueous chem, aerosol proc, theoretical.

1/ Happy to share that our paper on yields & composition for monoterpenes + NO3 radical and RO2 fate is published.
TLDR for general public: trees emit monoterpenes (a reason forests smell good). Those react with oxidants and make particle pollution (haze)
