Postdoc opportunity: Help develop a prototype UK and pan-European anthropogenic CO2 emissions Monitoring and Verification Support (CO2MVS) system. Requires knowledge of atmospheric chemistry to improve source attribution of fossil fuel CO2 emissions. https://t.co/EdQyqsAfCW
@decarbnow It would be great to do something like that. The satellite data this plume data is from is quite coarse for picking out individual emission sources though, as each pixel is 5 x 3.5 km. Some power station information can certainly be got from it though
@decarbnow It will be, although that data is preliminary at the moment so I'm hesitant about giving it out for purposes other than just show. We'll have some better data in the coming months if you're ok waiting
@decarbnow Hi - Glad you like the work! The website can be a bit temperamental as it was quickly made so sometimes might not show anything. The plumes founds on that map should show up as blue dots on the zoomable map. This is a work in progress so more will be added in the future

A few caveats - this doesn't pick up areas (e.g. Bavaria, Tropical Africa) or a country adjective (e.g. Brazilian, Chinese) but still interesting none the less!
What were the most talked about countries at #LPS22? I've scraped all the talk and poster titles and abstract and counted the number of times countries were mentioned, a fairly good spread but still a concentration on the usual locations! @ESA_EO
Germany had the most with over 361 talks mentioning the name. Followed by Italy (223) and the USA (219). Although this method includes any mention of a country name so perhaps picking up when people talk about organisations (e.g. UK space agency)
