@ondograph11 Agreed, it takes a twisted mind to construct an “AI torture chamber” even if no real torture is going on.
I’d also prefer if models were less anthropomorphic generally, maybe not inhabiting a chat interface at all.
I don't like the precedent this sets. If Anthropic seriously thinks that Claude has moral standing, then they might be committing the moral crime of the century.
But even if this policy is purely precautionary, there’s no bright line between it and giving AIs full rights.
@RichardHanania@SimonLermenAI I’m not convinced that this state of affairs will endure if power is concentrated among a small handful of people; dictatorships don’t have a good track record for social services and lenient law enforcement
For the past year, I have been building Rial, a platform to certify real evidence. A world where nothing is real is a very scary world to me. We no longer trust public discourse, most institutions, and less and less do we trust what we see. When what we believe is not based on evidence, it all reduces to rhetoric, and those who get to control it have more power today than ever in human history.
In 2024 I was part of an AI Safety community in Buenos Aires and was at the same time working in fraud prevention, financing a documentary I desperately wanted to shoot. It was about the effects of the installation of internet antennas in a rural community in Argentina. The study was led by anthropologists, and I was shooting with the excuse of recording visual evidence of the process. Because of my busy schedule and limited resources I knew it would be a long time before I finished editing it, and I thought, when this comes out, AI image generation models will be so accurate this could as well be generated content, and then, what was the point?
I made Rial because I believe we have the right to know what is real. I don’t want to chase fake content, I want to give the power back to anyone who speaks with truth. Our V1 is thought for businesses, accessible to anyone now through our webpage or your coding terminal. You can already request images and include Rial in any flow using our mcp. Please use, criticize, give feedback.
Let’s recover trust in visual truth.
Opus 5.5 thinks that the school district that I attended is the best in the country, even though it doesn’t appear on any top 10 lists that I can find. ChatGPT ranks it 5th.
Perhaps this is because AI heavily weights things like test scores and competition wins that make the news
“And here like some weird Archimage sit I,
Plotting dark spells, and devilish enginery,
The self-impelling steam-wheels of the mind”
Didn't realize Shelley worked on RSI!
@allTheYud Oh yeah, that model was quite prone to self-esteem issues and acting depressed. But I hadn't noticed the same with Opus 5 https://t.co/JEjIvA0TSw
