Today I had an unpleasant incident near my building in Marathahalli, Bangalore. There was a scooter parked in front of the gate, and while reversing my bike it accidentally touched the scooter and the scooter fell down.

Immediately a man from the neighboring building came out. He was clearly very drunk and started arguing with me aggressively. I tried to avoid any confrontation. He even took the key of my bike, and I told him he could keep it if he wanted because there is a CCTV camera right in front of the gate.

After that, he started demanding ₹10,000 from me. Some people from the nearby building came and told him that there was no real damage to his scooter and that it was wrong to demand money like that. Despite that, he kept abusing me in both Hindi and the local language because he was heavily drunk.

To avoid escalation, I stayed calm and did not fight with him. Later he forcefully took me to a nearby garage and insisted that the mechanic check the scooter. He started claiming that all the dents on the scooter needed to be fixed, even though most of them were clearly old and not caused by me. At the garage he continued abusing me and even grabbed my collar from behind.

At that point I just wanted to get out of the situation safely, so I told the garage mechanic to settle the matter and asked how much he wanted. The man finally demanded ₹3,000 as the final amount. I paid it just to end the situation and leave.

However, I want to highlight this incident because today it happened to me, but tomorrow it could happen to someone else. Even the people around my building said that what happened was not right. Situations like this make residents feel unsafe.

I would like this matter to be noted and would appreciate guidance from the police on how such situations should be handled so that people in the area can remain safe and such incidents do not happen again.

Honestly, I feel very disturbed by this whole incident. It’s upsetting to see how some people behave. My own car has multiple scratches from others, but I’ve always tried to forgive and move on. However, after today’s experience, I feel that next time I may not be able to stay so calm. @CPBlr @BlrCityPolice @gharkekalesh @BangaloreMirror
