All government, government-aided and recognised private schools in Delhi will remain closed on September 11 on account of the BRICS Summit, the Directorate of Education said in a circular issued on Saturday.

The holiday will also be observed by all offices under the Directorate of Education, including government and government-aided and unaided recognised private schools.

VIDEO | Bihar: Flood alert issued in Rohtas as Bansagar Dam opens 8 gates, releasing over 3,200 cumecs into Son River

Authorities in Rohtas district have placed low-lying and coastal areas on high alert following an increase in water discharge from the Bansagar Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh and heavy rainfall in the Karmachat Dam catchment area.

To maintain the prescribed reservoir limit, officials opened two additional radial gates of the Bansagar Dam at pm on August 30.

With a total of eight radial gates now open at a height of two meters each, approximately 3,277 cumecs of water is being discharged directly into the Son River, creating a high risk of sudden water level rises downstream.

The Water Resources Department confirmed that reservoir inflows are being continuously monitored and warned that further water releases may be necessary.

In response, the district administration has issued a strict advisory for villagers, farmers, fishermen, and livestock owners living along the banks of the Son River.
