@drewdrewthefoo@blutterfyfinger He got the role because Kasem retired, and Kasem recommended him; but also “who played the role” is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
It was much more about Lillard already being positively associated with the role, and less about his fame lending legitimacy or interest.
@HowEPhil@ATLWiley I can see why they would do it for an international event, since there are so many countries where there is no social norm around gratuity.
@FlyoutChase I can see where someone would have that concern. But think of it like this: Georgia's population growth writ large hasn't been a boon for the state GOP.
The profile of those who support Buckhead City movement is at odds with the profile of those who desire dense urban living.
@ATLAreaWx Agreed. And it's 8 games on 8 separate days, across a 30 day period. It's not as though we alone are hosting the entire tournament. Traffic will be bad on those 8 days. But we'll all get through it.
@jjcroftiv@joshuawx_ “Narcissistic train nuts” here meaning “most people who live near the Beltline”.
Bike enthusiasts and car enthusiasts who wish to gatekeep public works think it’s a bad idea.
As do those receiving “speech” from come-lately business owners.
@jjcroftiv@joshuawx_ Beltline Rail has been the plan for 20 years.
To suggest that the business owners who chose to open shop on the Beltline shouldn't have known better because it "was not guaranteed" is disingenuous.
It was planned. It was popular. It was paid for. And its price tag was popular.
@jjcroftiv@joshuawx_ We have spent a decade on debate about priorities. Each and every time, Beltline Rail comes out as a top priority of the public. And every time, we kick the can.
If not for the "speech" of local carpet baggers flowing to the pockets of local politicians this would be settled.
@jjcroftiv@joshuawx_ Any person can support or oppose Beltline Rail.
But let’s also be honest. Ladybird opened on the Beltline after the Beltline project began. And the vision for that project always included rail.
And when funds for rail went up for a vote in 2016, they passed with >70% support.
@JulianJiggsPigs If the packs are in tact then all good.
I’d say follow up by email and provide a written reference to the phone call and the heads up about the seal-broken box.
If the packs have been messed with then you have a paper trail.
