Had to do an LP today - least favourite procedure, haven't done it in a while. F1 hype was "it'll happen, it's a brat summer." Cue LP success. The power of Charli XCX knows no bounds.
@sh_abbers Eurgh people with views like that can get in the bin. However you choose to look after your child - nursery, child minder, nanny, staying at home - it's your choice. You cannot do ANYTHING right as a mum and social media is bloody toxic for that!
@LewisStanding1@MRCPUK And so the nausea and hitting refresh on the MRCP page begins again tomorrow - incredibly considerate of the college to do this!
@JonnyGucks Emphasise the apprenticeship role of the clinical years with a focus on development of decision making skills and integration into the MDT - a la the US (one of the few times I'll appreciate their approach to Med Ed). It's not an approach that should be left to the final year.
It's sort of laughable that such basic stuff- being able to have a holiday when you want, knowing that you'll be paid correctly - is only just being mandated as being standard for NHS junior doctors, but it's a start, at least.
The NHS is setting out measures to improve the working lives of postgraduate doctors.
These include improving payroll accuracy, reducing admin burden and enhancing choice and flexibility with rotas. https://t.co/1wekgYwqei
This. I genuinely have no idea how duel doctor couples at reg level (resident nights, changing hospitals, on call rotas, commutes all over the place) hack this with one kid, let alone multiples. The privilege of having family close by is massive.
Honest question. How do you deal with your child constantly being sick when both parents work? Between pulling her out of daycare and frequent pediatrician appointments it feels so so so hard to accomplish everything you need....
Absolute nonsense at the #RCPEGM tonight. The senior leadership did nothing to allay concerns from the consultant body present or even, at the very least, answer the questions put to them. How are your trainees supposed to feel proud to be a member?
Examining for med school finals and despite being on the other side of OSCEs (hopefully forever...) I ALWAYS get nervous. Just sitting here doing deep breaths and telling myself to calm down.
