Open source AI on home computers particularly Apple M5 and the new Microsoft GPUter and equivalent from AMD and NVIDIA require zero tokens and are extremely powerful. It needs to be consumerized and AAPL has a track record of consumerizing technology that requires geeks to run it (e.g. Unix, mp3 players et al). I have no knowledge that they are doing that, but it would make sense if they did. Meta is also in a position to do it, possibly with the glasses (and voice) as the UI.
If people start using their own or LOCO (community owned) LLMs it will be difficult for the frontier token models (hyperscaler based) or stand alone GPU-as-a-Service companies to make their economics add up.
There is also new generations of thinking like LDMs and @ylecun thinking and new company alongside folks like https://t.co/jWLmmkBXL9 with their causal AI that can disrupt these ecosystems, on top of the risks cited above.
My opinion is that somebody will also package a whole AI HomeOS stack where you don’t have to know AI to use AI. It will replace the plethora of home based retail SaaS platforms but maybe not the devices like https://t.co/ZUaTR8lrVn, MyQ and many more. They all operate in silos which is not the best architecture. The customer needs to be at the center of this, not the SaaS platform!!

@prukalpa@JayaGup10 Exactly. AI failures aren’t model failures. They’re instruction failures. When role, intent, and constraints aren’t enforced up front, reasoning degrades. The fix isn’t better prompts — it’s governed reasoning.
I brought my sunglasses to get fixed (a screw came out and one an arms fell off). @sunglasshut said “we don’t have screws”, go across the street to LensCrafters. I bought it here. Paid top price in Manhattan. Really? We don’t have any little black screws? Bad #CX
@Grubhub is probably the worst customer service next to *unnamed*. @Seamless as well. Problem with border, fixed it, and now I’ve had 30 orders placed all over the US. Customer service answer: um. (Hang up).
@WJacky101 I’d tell them to explore the canvas more - and stop making boring algorithms that favor flat open spaces. You build big, beautiful cities for a reason. The edges of the map are much more interesting, let circles and there. Destin, Rondo, wake up!!!!!
