Hearing loss is one of the 14 modifiable risk factors for dementia, but how the two are connected remains a mystery.
Dr. Chris Hardy, the second Alzheimer’s Society Carol Jennings Fellow, is using his groundbreaking research to explore this vital link and how changes in hearing could act as an early warning sign for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
By developing new, culturally inclusive tests of “brain hearing” —how the brain processes complex sounds —he aims to create tools that make early detection and diagnosis easier for everyone.
The world's first Rare Dementia Support Centre is under construction. Made up of five floors across two adjoining Georgian townhouses, the new space will be changing lives from 2026. Read more and see the virtual guided tour here: https://t.co/VgYFGWybEV
