A New Orleans man known as Mr. Seven is going viral for teaching neighborhood kids hands-on automotive skills and valuable life lessons…all out of his own pocket for years! 🙌
Through his NOLA Service Circle program, he’s creating a safe space where young people learn practical skills like vehicle maintenance, basic repairs, jump-starting cars, teamwork, and discipline. Mr. Seven has poured in countless hours, energy, and personal resources because he believes in investing in our youth and building a stronger community.
Today marks 29 years since we lost Dr. Betty Shabazz.
She didn’t just love Malcolm, she was the movement after Malcolm. She raised six daughters in the shadow of her husband’s assassination, earned her doctorate, and dedicated her life to civil rights education.
Her death was a tragedy this country never fully reckoned with.
Say her name.
Honor her work.
Rest in power, Dr. Shabazz. 🕊️
A Black man created ranch dressing — and most people never knew.
Kenneth “Steve” Henson, born in Nebraska in 1918, was a plumber who cooked for his crew in Alaska. One day he mixed buttermilk, mayo, herbs, and spices… and ranch was born.
In 1954, he and his wife bought land near Santa Barbara and named it Hidden Valley Ranch. Guests loved the dressing so much they begged to take jars home. By 1957, stores were selling his dry mix. Orders exploded. Factories followed.
In 1972, Clorox bought the recipe and the name for eight million dollars. Ranch went nationwide. By 1992, it was America’s #1 dressing.
But the man behind it? Nearly erased.
Every salad, every wing, every fry dipped in ranch — that’s his legacy. He mattered. He was the blueprint.

54 years ago today, the 37 words of Title IX changed history for girls and women in the United States.
The tenets of Title IX were incredibly important then, and continue to be so today.
Title IX represents a vital way to build more inclusive spaces for the next generation.
The work continues.
She studied chemistry at Princeton because she believes bad forensic science has contributed to wrongful convictions—and now she’s going to law school to change that.

The Pentagon is the only place in America where you can fail 8 audits in a row, admit you’ll fail the next few & still get handed more money than you asked for.
But let a family need help buying groceries and suddenly it’s a lecture about hard work, responsibility & bootstraps.
Marlana Kendricks traveled over two hours from Cleveland to Columbus to oppose Ohio’s new Medicaid bill, HB 795. The Republican-backed bill would ban family members of Medicaid recipients from being certified caregivers.
I was the first Black member of The Bath Club. Today, I'm proud to be its owner.
Since 1926, The Bath Club has been one of Miami Beach's most iconic institutions, welcoming figures who helped shape American history. Its members included the Vanderbilts, William Boeing, and Presidents Herbert Hoover and John F. Kennedy.
But when I first joined, I was shocked to learn I was the club’s first Black member.
Now, I've made it a priority not only to modernize, but to transform it into something that better reflects the America we aspire to be. Today, The Bath Club is a thriving and diverse community that brings together people from different backgrounds, faiths, professions, and perspectives, much like Miami Beach itself.
In many ways, its evolution mirrors the story of our country: progress built on opportunity, inclusion, and the belief that barriers are meant to be broken.
Only in America can someone go from being the first person allowed through the door to becoming the steward responsible for opening it wider for everyone else.
Our kids are dying. And they laugh.
During a debate on requiring safe storage of guns, a senior House Republican clapped and laughed at their inaction on gun safety.
This is not normal. This should never be normal.
