THE CHURCH BELLS WILL RING ALL NIGHT IN SAN DIEGO AND ALL THE WAY TO WASHINGTON.
DYLAN. DARLING.
ST. JOHN’S TO THE SWEET 16 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1999.
Over the years I don't know if I've seen any New York college or pro athlete carry himself any better than Zuby Ejiofor has.
How the St. John’s star was shaped by four parents and found basketball greatness through one of them, a Vietnam War era refugee from Laos.

I have a problem with you @sethdavishoops for getting the facts wrong while playing the “journalism standards” card on others.
On Selection Sunday, St. John’s was not ranked 17th as you said by ANY of the three official PREDICTIVE metrics:
Torvik: 15
KenPom: 16
BPI: 16
SJU was 15th in the NET.
And this morning, EvanMiya has St. John’s at 11th in his predictive metric.
So where exactly are you getting 17 from? That matters, because 16 profiles as a 4 seed, while 17 is a 5 seed.
And of course, you didn't mention St. John's official RESUME metrics on Selection Sunday in your post because it didn't fit your narrative:
KPI: 10 (Kevin Pauga is a genius!!!)
WAB: 13
SOR: 16
That said, looking foward to what we have ahead of us in San Diego!
Let's go Johnnies!!!!!!!
Such a magical night at MSG!!!!
So proud of Coach Taliek Brown.
Taliek was the lead scout against his alma mater, UConn, where he is still the program’s all-time assists leader.
The first week of February was Taliek Week as he was the lead scout for both of these games:
• Tues. 2/3 vs. DePaul — DePaul scored just 56 points
• Fri. 2/6 vs. UConn — St. John’s beat UConn at MSG
After the DePaul game, our flight got stuck in Chicago because of mechanical issues.
Taliek and video coordinator Brandon Irving stayed up all night clipping and charting every UConn offensive possession from that night.
St. John’s is now 4-1 in its last 5 games against UConn with Taliek leading the scout.
As I mentioned in a post earlier today, UConn had its lowest offensive efficiency game of the season last night.
Outside of UConn’s own staff and players, there may not be anyone on the planet who knows UConn’s offensive schemes better than Taliek.
Thanks to my friend Dave Berov for sending me this photo.
Congrats to Zuby Ejiofor for winning every Big East on-the-court personal and team award he was eligible for in the 2025–26 season:
• Preseason Player of the Year
• Player of the Year
• Defensive Player of the Year
• Scholar-Athlete of the Year
• The only unanimous All-Big East First Team selection
• One of two unanimous All-Big East All-Defensive Team selections
• Captain of the outright Big East regular season champions
I guess technically he was eligible for Most Improved Player… but he already won that last season.
Just an incredible player, person, and leader.
With Senior Night at MSG tomorrow, I thought I’d share this.
Zuby’s FIRST start in a Johnnies uniform was an exhibition game vs. Pace on 10/29/23.
SJU lost 63–59 to a D2 opponent.
Zuby scored 5 pts and shot 1-for-6 from the field and 3-for-11 from the line.
You know about Zuby’s LAST start.
A triple-double:
16 points
12 rebounds
10 assists
3 blocks
1 steal
And an 89–57 win over Villanova.
It’s been a privilege to witness firsthand the trust Zuby placed in Coach Pitino and our assistant coaches — and the relentless work and dedication he poured into becoming the player and leader he is today.
Johnnies fans: let’s pack the Garden tomorrow and celebrate Zuby and all our seniors the right way.
