Magnificent Five Senators Kiko Pangilinan, Tito Sotto, Ping Lacson, Risa Hontiveros, and Bam Aquino introduced and filed a resolution URGING BATO DELA ROSA to voluntarily surrender.

The Resolution cites the previous examples of voluntary surrender and judicial submission by Juan Ponce Enrile, Leila De Lima, and Sonny Trillanes. (This belies Cayetano’s false claims).

It also cites that the parliamentary immunity and privilege from arrest is LIMITED to offenses punishable by not more than six (6) years of imprisonment.

ML Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima recalled how she voluntarily surrendered when a warrant of arrest was issued against her in 2017, stressing that she never used the Senate as a refuge to evade authorities.

“Wala po akong intention whatsoever na magtago o umiwas,” she said, adding that she never asked the Senate to shield her from arrest because she knew parliamentary immunity did not apply to her case.

De Lima said Senator Ronald dela Rosa should do the same and avoid using the Senate in a way that could damage the institution’s image.
