This explains some of it, has to do with slow responders and the surveys are somewhat voluntary. Adjustments can be made once "harder" data rolls in. Remember, this is sampling as well, imagine trying to poll all 163million workers every month

@JimBurns525 @TristanSnell Dont know if you have any actual education in economics, but here's a lesson for you. We're in a period of what is called disinflation - where inflation is decreasing, but simple math tells you that prices are still increasing, just by not as much.

@JimBurns525 @TristanSnell Sorry Jim, you're wrong. Inflation by definition is the rate of change in prices. Inflation IS down from 8-9% down to 2-3%. You're talking about prices which are NOT down - if you want those to be lower than they were then yes inflation would need to be negative.
