@FTusa284 Civil service is already shrinking, at least Whitehall departments are all taking 20-30% reductions. Don’t know about regions or lower AO/EO type roles but grade 7 has seen major clear out and a lot are on recruitment freeze
@FennellJW 10% load factor in the south. That capacity is good for about 15TWh . Cheap but low impact. Build 2-4GW of biomethane production to deliver that same energy output,
solar is peak generation at minimum demand time in the uk and zero generation at peak demand, good but insufficient
Any serious British politician doesn’t fear being photographed next to Count Binface at an election count - indeed, for an aspiring Prime Minister, it’s a rite of passage.
@gentleman_once@blagden_david@WarGit The surge force is the retained firefighters (unpaid except when called out) but again limits to available resources
@gentleman_once@blagden_david@WarGit We don’t normally use them in the uk but when out of the ordinary events turn up they are a valuable source of extra hands to reinforce the system
@navalhistorian@bigasaplanet@MtarfaL@TomSharpe134 A brace of paveway IV would make a mess and they are able to hit something moving at the maximum speed of any frigate. The real problem is also the double hatting of all the strike capable aircraft. Nobody wants a brimstone to the face even if it won’t sink anything.
@MarkAyscough@FennellJW The power would have to be upgraded, so it’s probably going to need bigger diesels or a couple of gas turbines rather than the two banks of diesel combined output is about 32Mw which is more than t45 max but in t45 that’s all going to electricity. It’ll want iep mods I suspect
