This is spot on - but I think most firms still underestimate how deep this goes. It’s not just “systems don’t talk.” It’s duplicate data, different workflows conflicting, client experiences and staff losing hours just trying to figure out new tools
That’s where things break. Technology isn't an IT problem - its an operational strategy problem. I say this because I'm going through the struggle everyday!
For a long time, the unspoken deal was simple:
You gave a firm 20–30+ years, and in return you got stability, security, and a seat at the table. That deal has changed. Loyalty is no longer a guarantee on either side. Be a great professional. Build relationships. Do meaningful work. But understand the landscape for what it is-and make sure you’re not sacrificing the things that actually matter (kids games, etc) for a version of loyalty that doesn’t exist the same way anymore.
@cpapracadvisor This is in addition to the regular tax I assume? Why are we penalizing those with higher income if they are already paying the required tax in their bracket?
Have a client who hired a “fractional CFO” through a larger firm. Guys job is to come in and ask us “thought provoking questions” once a month regarding the full service bookkeeping we are doing. Pays that firm $5600 per month no problem, yet needs a payment plan for our $1600 per month on the 20 hours we spend and “questions the value”.
@JRCTaxGuy The amount of emails that I have received related to this has been exhausting. Had to create an away message just to address it so I didn't have to respond to every single inquiry.
@Rightworks_ The dark web isn't the scary part. The scary part is how many people and business probably don't realize their information is already there.
Love the ‘quick question’ emails that come in on April 20th.
Nothing builds confidence like starting a sentence with Now that things have settled down for you, this should be simple’ followed by a 4-paragraph scenario involving 3 states, a rental property, and crypto.” #taxtwitter
