We request the BMC Garden Department to ensure that Yogi Hills Municipal Garden, City Survey No. 26, Mulund (W), remains open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Despite HIRWA encouraging residents to visit and use this public garden, morning walkers and senior citizens are returning disappointed because the gate remains closed even at 7:00 AM.

A garden that remains inaccessible during morning hours defeats the very purpose of providing a public recreational space. Regular footfall by residents is essential to keep the garden actively used and enjoyed by the community.

We appeal to the Assistant Commissioner, T Ward, and the Garden Department to ensure timely opening of the gate and display the prescribed timings prominently.

Please make this garden accessible to the citizens it was created to serve.

Why is a pedestrian footpath being allowed to be used as an unauthorised storage yard for bamboo poles by unidentified persons?

📍 Near Yogi Hills Garden, next to Oxford CHS, Yogi Hills, Mulund (W).

As the photograph shows, bamboo poles have occupied a substantial stretch of the footpath, forcing pedestrians to negotiate dangerous obstructions, particularly after dark. Senior citizens, women and children are especially vulnerable.

Since the official @mybmcWardT handle remains suspended, we are compelled to bring this issue to BMC Headquarters.

Footpaths are meant for pedestrians, NOT for storing materials!

@mybmc, please arrange for the immediate removal of these bamboo poles, identify those responsible and prevent the footpath from being used for unauthorised storage again.

MMRDA slaps ₹2 crore penalty on contractor; safety violations won’t be tolerated

An unfortunate incident occurred at the Anand Nagar–Saket Elevated Road project site in Thane, where a reinforcement cage of an under-construction pier toppled onto a moving car on Kopri Bridge, damaging its front windshield. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Taking serious cognisance of the incident, MMRDA has imposed a penalty of ₹2 crore on the contractor, J. Kumar Infrastructure Limited. A detailed investigation has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the incident and identify safety lapses.

The damaged vehicle has been removed, and the tilted reinforcement cage is being safely removed with the assistance of a crane. Necessary corrective measures will be enforced to prevent recurrence.

Public safety remains MMRDA’s highest priority. All contractors are expected to adhere strictly to prescribed construction safety standards. Any failure to comply with these standards will be dealt with strictly, with accountability enforced at every project site.
