My FIL went to memory care & now we have his cat. Among our problems: the cat has the same name as our son. Human Daniel keeps trying to get us to call the cat Dan or Danny, but it is not catching on.

@IAmJoshKopin @joshshepperd Somewhere I read that e-mails signed "Thanks" get the most positive response, so I go with it for that reason. I once had a provost who wrote "thx," which I'm pretty sure is not a Lucas ref since he was a medievalist. Someday I'll be senior enough to abbreviate.

Today was my 1st day of classes, & I gave my "what to do in an active shooter sit" talk in my classes. In one case, a student's laptop has a gadsden flag sticker- the snake had an ar15 & the sticker said, "don't tread on my rights."
Bet he'd be really helpful in an emergency.

@kate_manne At my institution, football is a big deal, so we're always asking for more linebacker-sized seats. I think there are 1 or 2 in each chairdesk room, which is insufficient.
