@nosilverv tfw he comes back like hey guys so I'm back from my 500 day salad cooking retreat and it totally healed all my complex trauma. however it also created a new and even more horrible trauma,
a course with only two students that you travel 80km to teach every week can still be a great success if they happen to be particularly good students

@s_r_constantin I like the type where the lecturer writes everything on the board and you copy it down, if I'm in the right mood for it.
Everything between that and "entertaining story" tends to be annoying

Like with that Littlewood quote, I've been going in the opposite direction of listening to more random small composers that people mostly ignore now and it's really deepening my appreciation of music
like, "math trauma" is a very coarse and quite overt/obvious version of this. i think it can get very specific, like "i jive with most of abstract algebra but rings make me subtly sad such that i never spent much time on them"
i feel like various content specific emotional cruft is the dark matter of the STEM world
invisibly governing what makes some domains click or not click for diff types of people
