Atoms of your body are being replaced all the time via food and breathing, that's not what makes a subjective experience. Your neurons would be the same

Fascinating talk yesterday by Sir Roger Penrose and @StuartHameroff on consciousness. Potential mechanism being coherent quantum vibrations in neuronal microtubules; damped by anesthesia & amplified by psychedelics. Can't say I'm fully sold yet but sure learned a lot.

@Moftan @StuartHameroff Convinced to consider it more seriously given additional data. Plausible that microtubules can maintain quantum coherence even at human body temperature. But idk that that's necessary for consciousness, and didn't buy Penrose's arguments that consciousness is non-computable

(1/5) I've had long discussions this week with a sweet lady (temporarily homeless) who was a recent victim of assault. She's in a lot of pain and so stressed & anxious that she's hesitant to go to more doctors for the help she needs
