@williamnhutton Well Andy hasn’t used the money well in Greater Manchester when it comes to spending on bus stops in cycle lanes. This is Sarah’s message to @andyburnham this morning online and it would be good to get an answer from him.
@bevcraig We hope you will fight for blind people like Kevin from Rochdale on the issue of floating bus stops please? Will you meet with us on this issue? Thank you.
A warm weekend ahead & rip-off pedicab riders will be targeting tourists in the West End. However, our cabinet member for enforcement, Cllr Caroline Sargent, is targeting them as she did on this enforcement operation with @CityWestminster officers & @metpoliceuk#SafeStreets
When will @metpoliceuk@MayorofLondon start to crack down on dangerous cyclist riding in London? Riding like idiots, jumping red lights & riding the wrong way! It is not safe & terrifying for all. Needs action every day all day until this behaviour is stamped out. @ShabanaMahmood
Another low level journalist @MartinStewITV calling the autonomous vehicles “taxis”. They are NOT taxis. They cannot be classed as “taxis” in London. At best they’re PH driverless vehicles. Why don’t you check facts before engaging your brain? https://t.co/poxS371kVr
London’s iconic black cabs are about to compete with AI-powered, autonomous taxis. But the city’s cabbies aren’t ready to hand over their keys. @AndersonCooper reports, Sunday on 60 Minutes.
@CamdenCouncil@StPancrasInt any chance of some more traffic enforcement on the drop off area?? Seems to be another Private Hire free for all with nowhere to drop off passengers 🤯
This is shocking on multiple levels.
A Freedom of Information request revealed that 158 individuals granted private hire licences had prior convictions for violent offences. In addition, 61 had drug-related convictions, 36 had drink-driving offences, and 4 had sexual offence convictions.
Overall, the FOI showed that 438 licences were issued to individuals with criminal records in the last year alone.
Further concern arises from reporting by @carolinegall1, which conflates taxi drivers with private hire drivers. These licences were granted to minicab drivers, not licensed taxi drivers - an important distinction that risks diverting attention from what is increasingly being highlighted as a very serious issue.

@donnyosmond Was fortunate to back Neil on drums in 1989. He was a joy to work with. Extremely warm and friendly, with some great anecdotes. He was so self-assured and comfortable in his own skin. Calmness personified. RIP Neil 🙏
TFL, why has nothing being done about this driver who assaulted Sarah at the Wellington Pl cab shelter, why is he still out there carrying passengers? I saw him on Sunday on the Cromwell Road, he should have been arrested for assault, TFL stop dragging your feet with this one.
Celebrating our youngest taxi driver! 👏
Connor celebrated his 21st birthday today by collecting his Taxi Driver’s Licence.
The Knowledge is open to anyone and takes dedication, hard work and determination - a proud moment for the taxi trade.

Freedom of Information disclosures from @WolvesCouncil show that in just three months, seventeen allegations of sexual assault or rape were recorded involving Wolverhampton-licensed private hire drivers- and not one of those alleged attacks happened in Wolverhampton.
This is nothing short of a state-enabled safeguarding failure!

All who see my post when it comes to the mayor knows that I don't mince my words when it comes to criticising him, but on this issue concerning the knowledge of London, I will say let's hope that this is the catalyst for the mayor to protect our trade
The man who intervened to stop one of the shooters was a Muslim, and he needs to publicly honoured!
However, the actions of one individual do not absolve a doctrine that continues to radicalise, justify, and inspire violence around the world. Those who slander others for calling attention to this issue should be disregarded.
@rearlee1975@UKLabour@TfL You’re right, the trade should never be a political football, but since it is, we have no choice but to keep pushing back- regardless of who is in power.
As far as I recall, the ITA/DDD organised at least five demonstrations, explicitly against the Cameron/Osborne regime.
What genuinely staggers me is the reflex, almost cult-like defence of Uber by parts of the political left. The very people who demand big business “pay what it owes” fall eerily silent when Uber dangles bargain-basement fares.
