@EllaEdwards226 Yeah from this class has made me more reflective of my social media usage. To the point where I uninstalled Facebook after my first case study cause I just don't use it in ways that is productive or impactful.

Looking back at this class something that really stuck with me was the idea of affordance when it comes to the use of social media, this is on both sides for the user and the developers. The idea that developers have ethical issues is very interesting. #450SocialSP24

Seeing how effective social media was used in Flint Michigan in this weeks reading, made me think about a similar issue that Hawaii is going through with the Red Hill water crisis. Seeing it only get attention through celebrities is disappointing.

This stems the question of are there ethical issues we face as a consumer of the platform similar to the ones that developers face? Should we be held accountable to some degree of checking on how we act and what we spread?

In the social dilemma it was interesting to hear affordances from the side of the developer as we only think of it from the consumer perspective. As the affordances that developers have are vastly different from the ones of a consumer.

@Katheri52612252 I agree, but I also think that this is due to how lifestyles today have changed. Where we are less likely to have something in common with our neighbors or how work schedules come together. It feels unfair to discount online relationships especially today.

@henkel_alexa I totally agree, I think over all for me online communities has helped my f2f relationship. As now I know people from all over the world who I consider close friends that I met online through gaming. Some these people I have even visited when travel.

@GudGradesAlways I agree, in one of my classes last semester we discussed the topic of citizen journalism. The rise of handheld cameras has lead to the increase of citizen journalism and blurs the line more of what can and can't trust. Overall more accountability can be seen. #450SocialSP24
