Kiwi by birth, now at home in Sydney. Have PhD on doing PhD in Australia (no, really). Retired. Queer granma. Happily partnered with @sandrahw. Etc etc.
@helenbarrett@Si_Case No, this is not correct. Please, do some research. As a journalist you are making a fool of yourself with these assertions. Knitting has a rich and complex history which academic research is revealing.
@helenbarrett@DuilleDesign Rubbish. Sailors, who often had hours to themselves on board ship, are known to have been skilful knitters. Why are you assuming they were made by people on shore?
@kariebookish Sandra and I said this at the start of this: Bad actors will take advantage of this upset. And it gives me no pleasure to be right. Thanks for your clear analysis, and take care of yourself Xx
@alipatts@squirrel_pigeon@AndiSatt I’m not. But I’m not sure why you think you will never be able to use it again, and are talking about it as if it was gone.
@alipatts@squirrel_pigeon@AndiSatt Many changes have already made, and I doubt most users are even aware of what is happening. It’s not going to be the end of Ravelry.
@KateHeppell @woollythinker Instagram. That’s what happens there. The interface isn’t designed for text based conversations, as you’ve described. So much pain and hurt and confusion.
@anintegralstate @thesiswhisperer Thank you Liz! It is a great calmer I agree. See also, don’t get it perfect, get it finished. That’s hard for some students.
@mrbenjaminlaw There were a bunch of them on our flight from Auckland in Friday. Irish. It was 36C in Sydney when we landed, and we were highly amused at them all putting their hoodies on to leave the plane while we removed the light shirts over our singlets.
