@J_Strachan_Edit A wonderful example of this is the work of David Millington and Don Chace to develop newborn screening methods that are used to check nearly every new baby in the developed world for inherited diseases!
@JohnRYatesIII John - not so many these days. How about Asst Prof Boone Prentice at UF, and Assoc Profs Michael Marty at UofA and Peter Nemes at Maryland.
@Tim_Garrett1 Reminds me of our labs on the top floor of Leigh Hall 30 years ago. In our "new" building (2nd floor), the risk is that a 3rd floor lab will have a condenser hose spring a leak... Hopefully all we'll get here in Gainesville is some wind gusts and a summer thunderstorm of rain.
@schumacherbj PIs need to decide who's the most important member of their group. If it's the PI, then climbing up on the shoulders of grad students and postdocs is quite rational. But if the future scientists are the most important, then our role is to lift them up. You cannot do both.
@TMIC_Canada@britzgroup Great paper! You might consider adding ion mobility to eliminate the epimer interference - see Anal. Chem., 91, 13555-13561 (2019). DOI: https://t.co/lztZupiW9k
@PresidentFuchs It's impressive that your blood hasn't thinned after 8 winters in Gainesville! I do appreciate the "four seasons" here in north Florida, but I'm glad that winter is short and mild. Looking forward to spring in a few weeks, with azaleas, dogwoods, and redbuds all blooming!
