Thinking of leaving Twitter? Us, too. That’s why we’ve set up a Slack group for the #zebrafish community with over 200 members so far (including 60+ PIs)! If you’d like to join, please send @ZebrafishRock a DM 🙏 #RockOn

Opportunity for collaboration (shelf-screen) in Kawakami lab
Dear #zebrafish researchers,
My lab has generated more than 2,000 transgenic fish lines that express Gal4 in specific organs, tissues and cells, which should be potentially useful for many purposes. (1/n)
Just over a month left to apply for a @Dev_journal@J_Cell_Sci@J_Exp_Biol or @DMM_Journal Travelling Fellowship of up to £3,000 for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers wishing to make collaborative visits to other laboratories:

The first preprint from our foray into the octopus visual system! 🐙🧠👁️
Led by @jsongco_ , in collaboration with @drzebrafish and @pastramimachine, we made a cell type map of the octopus optic lobe. 1/

Feeling lucky and honored to receive promotion and tenure today!
More than anything, I want to thank everyone who has joined the group and done such amazing work. This is such a team effort and I am so lucky to work with such amazing people.
Our paper that examines the spatial-temporal expression of all 41 Zfish gap-junction genes, the connexins, is out in @GeneticsGSA G3 journal. This scRNAseq dataset allows you to explore connexin expression in your favorite tissue through space & time.

Dr. Martin trained professionally as a graphic designer before graduate school and some of her work can be found on her website (https://t.co/d662lpPv7Q). Interested in graphic design for your work? View her @eLife webinar for helpful tips: https://t.co/U0rh93wb5U. 2/2
Our #SpotlightZebrafish this week is on Dr. Anne Martin (@thehungrybrain), who is a #Postdoc w/ @drzebrafish@uoregon. Her project looks into the shared mechanisms of electrical and chemical synapse formation. For more, check out her recent preprint: https://t.co/D5BFhQLc9t. 1/2
@Partitio_nBlues @drmichaellevin Hey Rob, send me an email and we can chat. I can get you pointed in the right directions. Nothing I know that is truly unidirectional but their are heterotypic configurations (different hemichannels in cell 1 v 2) that can bias directional flow.
The Nelson Lab just launched @CUAnschutz and is seeking a research assistant who can start in Jan 2022. We study the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying behavioral plasticity, and we’ve got some really exciting projects ready to go! Link to apply below.
Our paper is up on biorxiv! We examine the spatio-temporal expression of all 41 zebrafish connexins - turns out most connexin have specific patterns of expression, and many tissues express unique combinatorial signatures of connexins (Connexinplexity!)

@thehungrybrain@RachelLukowicz Thanks Anne. It was so much fun to celebrate the lab and everyone's work. What fun! And it is so easy to put together a talk when you have such awesome colleagues in lab doing such interesting work!! Can't wait to see what we get up to next!!
My lab @uoregon is looking to hire a postdoc. We do cell and developmental biology using zebrafish in an interdisciplinary and supportive department with beautiful surroundings. Lots of cool projects ready to go... join us.
RTs appreciated!
