@beh353#beh353 That's great to know! Nutrition is indeed a massive part of our daily lives in more ways than one, so saying that it's important barely scratches the surface. Being able to work with RDs is also a great boon!
Final Post: This fall, I learned how vital it is to bring nutrition into my role as a PA! Nutrition is how our body heals, how it grows, how it stays healthy and doesn’t develop disease! I plan to work with RDs as a PA to ensure my patients have a solid diet plan! @beh353#beh353
@beh353#beh353 Another point to add to the ever growing list of 'reasons why ultraprocessed foods can be harmful'. Of course, we must still remember that correlation is not causation (note that the title is also 'may' not 'will' even when it favors our beliefs.
@beh353#beh353 I've learned some additional things about nutrients and their roles (and what foods for major sources) from this course. I can help my patients maintain a healthy and balanced diet with this knowledge.
@beh353#beh353 While still a piece of good news, I think it should be taken with a grain of salt like many other articles like this; always remember that correlation (which is what research usually shows) is not causation.
Turmeric has been touted as a super food that can fight cancer, ease depression, and more. Find out what it can -- and can't -- do for your health: https://t.co/vWQrjXUvwl
@andreabeale3@beh353 Indeed! Whole grains are a great source of vitamins aside from being a source of carbohydrates. Rice being very cheap per pound (especially so in bulk) is also a plus! @beh353#beh353
#beh353@beh353@EmmaDArpinoRD First I would like to thank you for your time and efforts. I especially liked the part where you talked about junk foods. I feel like it is a lot better to talk about exactly what junk food is and why it is bad rather than simply saying it is bad.

I would recommend this article to parents because I think it is very important to keep your children's sugar intake under control. I chose it because it also talks about 'how' to do something rather than just 'what' to do.
@IK_nutrition22 @beh353@beh353#beh353 I think this is a great article to recommend, calcium and iron intake is very important for healthy bones - especially in children!
@beh353#beh353 One thing that stuck with me from the reading was where Emily had an MRI for a cyst removal and the physician pointed out her body fat instead. This is incredibly rude and should never be done in a professional environment, especially in a medical one.
@beh353#beh353 Indeed! "You are what you eat" goes a lot further than just the food, so many diseases can be cured/prevented just by eating the right things. This is a step in the right direction!
I agree, and rather than ignoring patients with ailments who are overweight and blame that as the reason for their ailment, we must treat patients with compassion to solve their ailments, and can rec. a healthy lifestyle in a caring way as eating healthy heals us! @beh353#beh353
@beh353#beh353 This really stood out to me as sandwiches are one of my favorite foods, both for the variety and the simplicity. Indeed, you should be mindful of what goes in your sandwich before eating it - so I'll remember this next time I have one.
For #NationalSandwichDay - try to eat healthier when out for lunch.

@Muskanp197@beh353@beh353#beh353 I took Politics of Food last year and we learned about this in that course - child obesity is indeed directly linked to poverty. Once you take a closer look, it is easy to realize that healthier foods also tend to be more expensive.
@beh353#beh353 One fact that stuck with me was that lack of sleep can lead to obesity. I was well aware that sleep deprivation can cause serious issues, but not that obesity was one of them. Moving forward, I will make sure to keep my sleep schedule in mind.
@beh353#beh353 This is great to know! Baked sweet potatoes are already one of my favorite snacks, so it's nice to see it is a rich source of vitamin A.
@beh353#beh353 Unlike the other quotes I have posted I will have to say I completely agree with this one. There is a significant amount of existing studies and data that prove eating too much sugar is absolutely detrimental to your health.
Reducing #sugar from packaged foods and sweetened drinks would prevent about 2.5 million #heart attacks, strokes, and cardiac arrests, and prevent half a million cardiovascular deaths, according to a recent study. #HarvardHealth https://t.co/cddPoxa4jb
One barrier I can think of for healthy eating is the financial one. It is often easier to get a burger (and fries) from McDonalds than it is to get a meaningful amount of salad at the same time. If only we were all financially unconcerned! @beh353#beh353
@AseelBEH353@beh353 This is indeed very true for a lot of people! Convenience is a scarily alluring motivator for preparing cheap and simple foods that may not necessarily be healthy and/or nutritious. A way to get around this could be to find healthy foods that are simple to cook. @beh353#beh353
I kind of feel like a hypocrite after seeing this because I just commented on a classmate's post that there is a thing as too much vitamin, and this has 8333% B1 and 625% B12 in it per tablet... Well, I do feel healthier after taking these...? @beh353#beh353
@Ashjez29@beh353@beh353#beh353 That's... that's a LOT of vitamin C. Do you feel fine after taking these? Excess vitamin C can cause nausea and/or headaches, or so says google. Just keep in mind there is such a thing as too much vitamin.
