@denk_tweets@marclou been a subscribe to BDE for over a year now and I can honestly say that every issue is just as good if not better than this. the consistency is top notch.
what Dominic Fike is doing for his new album rollout is a masterclass in marketing
instead of just dropping a couple singles and posting on socials
he built https://t.co/yChnVyhT1b and pre-loaded an entire 2 weeks of programming into it
behind the scenes footage, music videos, live streams, original interviews, a live chat feature
everything that went into making this album is there
and he’s inviting everyone to join in
so genius
@realcolegordon At the end the terms he’s listing that he went after, is he saying those are secondary terms? What terms did Neil Patel own, and which did he optimize for?

The GREATEST verbal beatdown in cinema history. PERIOD.
A smug college punk decides to embarrass the wrong guy in front of two girls.
He has absolutely NO IDEA what’s coming.
Is this the most satisfying scene Hollywood’s EVER produced?
he’s right, and the odds your new “head of content” flops are extremely high
as someone who’s spent the entirety of their career working in different roles across the content stack, I can see there’s a huge misalignment in what’s expected of the role vs what the role should actually look like
founders and marketing leaders say they want a “generalist” with “taste” and the ability to “create and execute content”
but what they really want is someone who owns every single step of the content production process and is an expert in all of them
they want:
- ideation
- writing
- editing
- posting
- videography
- photography
- paid ads exp
- design
- production
- creative
- strategy
- management
the list goes on because most don’t know how many steps actually go into the process
yes - ai has scaled the ability of an individual to manage doing every part of the process, but these people, nor the AI, are experts at all of this
the head of content should not be in charge of executing every step of this process
they should be in charge of OVERSEEING this entire process and making sure it is BANG ON
they make sure the engine is up and running, and all of the different parts are firing cleanly
they assist and help out where needed across the stack, but they do not OWN every step
they find the best people to fill the different roles and build a fluid operation
and they define the long term vision of the team, and what an ideal operation looks like
this role is so new, and its responsibility will continue to reshape and adapt to the needs of the team
but thinking you are going to find someone who is an expert at every single step of the content production process and pay them $120k is ridiculous
not even because that’s a low salary (for a lot it’s not, for a lot it is)
just because they can go out on their own and make more than that if they ONLY freelance for what they’re best at with 3-4 dif clients
time to reshape your expectations peeps
Brooklyn is such an interesting place
i just went to a sandwich shop where you chose from a sliding scale of how much to pay for your sandwich
anywhere between $13-24
