We are deeply saddened to learn of the line-of-duty death of Ontario Provincial Police Cst. Tarun Bali. His death is a tragic reminder of the risks police officers face each day. We extend our sincerest condolences to Cst. Bali’s family, friends and all members of the @OPP_News.
Let’s finally put this tired MAGA fantasy to rest:
the U.S. has never militarily protected Canada — not once, not ever.
Canada has never been invaded by a foreign power in modern history, and we have certainly never asked the U.S. to ride in like some self-appointed saviour.
In fact, the only time American troops showed up on our soil in force was during the War of 1812 (Confederation wasn't even born yet) — when they tried to invade and conquer us and got their asses handed to them by a militia, First Nations warriors, and British forces.
The colonies defended themselves.
And, furthermore to facts, NORAD is a joint defense partnership, NOT American charity.
Yet the MAGA base keeps repeating this crap that “if it wasn’t for us, Canada would be gone.”
No. We never begged for your protection, we never needed it, and we sure as hell don’t owe you for a fantasy scenario that exists only in your heads.
Canada stands on its own.
Always has.

Statement on UCP, Separation, and the Pipeline MOU
The final days of the legislative session reinforced what is becoming a defining concern with this UCP government: instability, poor planning, and reckless decision-making.
Albertans watched serious questions emerge surrounding the unauthorized disclosure of voter information tied to nearly 3 million people. Elections Alberta raised concerns, those warnings were ignored, legislation was changed anyway, and now the RCMP are once again involved.
At the same time, the courts pushed the independence petition process back to the government because of legislation created by the UCP. The petition was not exactly struck down - cabinet now owns the decision.
For years, separatist sentiment has existed within parts of the UCP’s base and administrative structure . Under Trudeau, frustration with Ottawa intensified across Western Canada and the UCP chose to weaponize that anger politically.
The Premier publicly committed Alberta toward a referendum believing separatist sentiment would continue growing.
But Albertans drew a clear distinction between frustration with Ottawa - and leaving Canada.
The Forever Canadian campaign confirmed what most Albertans already felt: Albertans want a fair deal within Canada - not separation.
Now the UCP finds itself delivering one message publicly while saying something different privately to factions within its own movement - creating instability that is now spilling directly into economic policy.
I support pipelines, Alberta’s responsible resource sector, and getting our products to market. But this MOU is not the victory the UCP is selling Albertans.
No private company is willing to build this pipeline without massive taxpayer guarantees and protection from cost overruns. Trans Mountain was already more than 600% over budget, and this proposal could cost tens of billions while Albertans are struggling with affordability, housing pressures, and rising electricity costs.
At the same time, the Pathways Alliance is stepping back from the commitments this agreement was built on, while Alberta taxpayers increasingly appear positioned to carry the financial risk.
Albertans deserve stability, competence, and serious leadership focused on affordability, infrastructure, and long-term economic growth - not populist gamesmanship.
The Tory Party supports responsible development, fiscal discipline, meaningful consultation, and a strong Alberta within Canada.
That means no blank cheques for private industry, no governing through instability and no sacrificing long-term economic confidence for short-term political survival.

We NEED to IMMEDIATELY:
Ban Hoekstra from Canada.
Charge David Parker with Treason.
Investigate Danielle Smith and her ENTIRE office for links.
STOP TOLERATING TREASON!
Serious question…
What is the RCMP’s experience with detecting and addressing foreign interference on the type of scale that’s being discussed by the national security experts who are saying there is clear interference?

Seems like @ABDanielleSmith & the UCP are following a playbook!
These fascist actions don’t happen overnight but intentionally made in small incremental steps
It allows opposition to be labeled as overreactive or fear mongering (like Notley was)

Thomas Lukaszuk on Danielle Smith calling Alberta judge's decision 'undemocratic': "Courts rule on what is right and what is wrong and what is lawful and what is illegal. They don't render popular decisions. They render righteous decisions. But the Premier doesn't seem to be concerned about that."
Carney is moving ahead on a new pipeline to get Canadian oil to global markets, something Alberta has been demanding for years.
And yet, Alberta is STILL complaining.
First it was “we need pipelines.” Now it’s “not this one,” “not fast enough,” or “not good enough.”
At some point it stops being about pipelines and starts looking like a province that just wants to be perpetually mad no matter what happens.
Danielle Smith calling the court decision undemocratic when she used the notwithstanding clause to quash Albertans' rights is pretty rich, but totally on par with her arrogant, self-righteous attitude.
Jeff Rath warns about foreign money backing First Nations opposition to the separatist petition. 🤣🤣
That's an argument that requires a short memory and a tall hat, boy.
Rath is also the lawyer who argued his separatist client's donor list "should be off limits" when Elections Alberta sought a court injunction to force disclosure.
According to financial information in the corporate registry, the Prosperity Society received more than $1 million in donations in 2022.

The Alberta Prosperity Project dropped their "fully costed" independence plan:
- CPP counted twice
- Services UNDERSTATED by $30B
- Half a TRILLION in new pipelines for a dying oil market
- An IMPOSSIBLE surplus
I read all 43 pages 🤦🏻♂️
Deep dive coming: It's damning
City Council confirmed their decision to not accept EHS Alberta’s contract conditions due to the financial impact on taxpayers.
The City remains open to discussions with partners on options to preserve an integrated Fire & EMS system.
