Not everyone can make it with you
Carry dead weight, you’ll kill your potential for their comfort & eventually resent them
Believe in others more than they believe in themselves, help change their lives & they’ll still resent you
No good deed goes unpunished.
Had a wealthy friend tell me that the ability to decrease time to any outcome is the one skill behind every successful person he knows.
A few I apply constantly:
- Decreasing the time it takes you to get out of a bad state will make you emotionally resilient
- Decreasing the time it takes you to go from idea to executive will make you wealthy
- Decreasing the time it takes you to turn a failure into a lesson will thicken your skin faster than anything else
Once you reach a certain level of consciousness it becomes impossible to tolerate working a job.
It requires a deliberate self-numbing to endure the nonsense, performance, and office politics required to keep it.
Your first taste of freedom will make you unemployable.
Live earnestly so that you never have to clear your search history or use incognito mode.
Give your significant other your phone password.
Stop being sneaky.
It is a constant background distraction. It is making you less sharp. It fills your days with little schemes and shame.
“laid back” is what high agency ppl look like from the outside when they’ve correctly identified which games are worth playing & simply declined the rest.
The worst years of my life did more for the people around me than my best years ever did, and i hate admitting that. when i was falling apart, everyone who loved me had to look at themselves and decide what they were actually made for. because you cant stand next to someone thats drowning and remain neutral. you either grab them or you walk away, and both things change you forever. so in one way, my collapse was the most generous thing i ever did for anyone. and nobody will ever thank me for it, why would they
One of the most profound behavior changes I've had as an entrepreneur, which was against my nature, was to stop seeking out opportunities when I still had problems I needed to fix within my business.
You have to switch from shiny object syndrome to golden BB obsession.
Fixing a hundred small things is more boring but creates the outsized outcomes the shiny object syndrome promises but never delivers.
Hard work isn’t the problem. Your industry is
Where you build, matters more than what you build
Growing markets forgive your worst ideas.
Flat markets ignore your best.
Nobody will tell you this, but the secret blessing you'll have in life is to get to such a low point that prayer is the ONLY thing that will work for you.
You are made to prostrate as you explore the geography of prayer.
You yield to an incomprehensible power greater than your own, and to a love that stretches every chamber of your heart until each beat groans with passion & holy ache.
Before this, you play to not lose.
But after you feel who is really in your corner the entire game is different.
For the first time you realise you've already won.
