How long are CAs expected to sacrifice sleep, health and family life just to meet overlapping compliance deadlines?

Day-and-night working should NOT become the normal cost of compliance.

@IncomeTaxIndia @FinMinIndia — ACT NOW. Extend the Tax Audit due date to 31.10.2026.

TAX AUDIT DEADLINE EXTENSION — NOT JUST A PROFESSIONAL DEMAND, BUT A SOCIAL CAUSE

The demand to extend the Tax Audit due date to 31st October permanently is not merely about giving Chartered Accountants more time.

It is about creating a realistic compliance framework that protects the quality of audits, the well-being of professionals and the larger public interest.

THE PROFESSIONAL CAUSE:
A Tax Audit is not a mechanical exercise of filling forms.

It involves examination of books and records, verification of documents, reconciliations, analysis of tax provisions, identification of discrepancies, preparation of reports and professional review before the report is finally signed.

Trying to complete this entire process within an extremely compressed period can create unnecessary pressure and increase the risk of inadvertent errors, incomplete verification and compromised professional review.

Quality audit requires time. Professional judgement cannot be rushed.

THE HUMAN CAUSE:
Behind every Tax Audit is a professional and a team of people working long hours to meet the statutory deadline.

Late nights, extended working hours and continuous deadline pressure affect the health, family life and overall well-being of professionals and their teams.

Compliance should not come at the cost of professional well-being and sustainable working conditions.

THE SOCIAL & PUBLIC-INTEREST CAUSE:
The quality of a Tax Audit ultimately affects more than the Chartered Accountant.

It contributes to accurate financial reporting, correct tax compliance and a more reliable tax administration system.

A rushed audit may satisfy a date on the calendar, but a properly performed audit serves the larger objective of accuracy, transparency and compliance.

THE REAL OBJECTIVE:
This is not a demand for less compliance.

It is a demand for adequate time to achieve better compliance.

Adequate Time → Better Verification → Better Audit → Better Compliance

An extension to 31st October would provide a more practical and sustainable timeline for completing Tax Audits with the care and professional diligence they deserve.

EVERY DAY COUNTS.

Every day without a decision means less time for proper verification, review and quality.

🙏 EXTEND THE TAX AUDIT DUE DATE TO 31ST OCTOBER — PERMANENTLY.

NOT LESS COMPLIANCE.

NOT LESS ACCOUNTABILITY.
JUST MORE TIME FOR QUALITY.

📢 This is a professional cause.
This is a human cause.
This is a public-interest cause.

Retweet For Support and Reach

We did not ask for extension at time of ITR filing!

But this time there is genuine demand!

Audit is a lengthy, complex and time taking process which requires time.

So, #ExtendTaxAuditDueDate Today itself.

If the extension is to be given, please announce it now.
If not, please make it clear that the deadline will not be extended.

The profession deserves clarity. 🙏🏻

UDIN Portal under maintenance after technical glitches on a SUNDAY!!

That itself shows Tax Auditors across the country are working even on SUNDAY

Clearly, the present time window is too compressed for quality audits. If the time available were sufficeint ,then why majority auditors (almost everone) along with their teams be working regulary on SUNDAYS
