If you’re seeing the phrase “independent healthcare” popping up and thinking it sounds reassuring, pause.

It does not mean the NHS.
It means private healthcare.

They’ve changed the word because saying “private” scares people. “Independent” sounds friendly. Neutral. Sensible. Like it’s doing its own thing and not quietly siphoning money and staff out of the NHS.

The policy is simple. Give tax breaks to people who can afford to go private so they leave the NHS system. That’s not easing pressure. That’s incentivising privatisation and paying for it with public money.

If this feels like a rebrand, that’s because it is. Same product. New label. Designed to slip past people who don’t read past the headline.

Independent doesn’t mean public.
Independent doesn’t mean universal.
Independent doesn’t mean you’re covered.

It just means some people get seen faster and you get told to wait.
