Good data analysis is tricky. It requires knowledge, training, & thought. That's not gatekeeping, it's a fact for most scientific tasks!
Machine learning tools may be tempting, but naive data-driven analyses can be dangerously misleading. We need more thought not less.
"We should be afraid. Not of intelligent machines. But of machines making decisions that they do not have the intelligence to make. I am far more afraid of machine stupidity than of machine intelligence" - @MelMitchell1
In 2018, "Parachute use to prevent death and major trauma when jumping from aircraft: randomized controlled trial" was published in the British Medical Journal.
It sought to determine if wearing a parachute when jumping from a plane had any impact on survivability.
It did not.
Great to be at the Functional #PrecisionMedicine for #BloodCancer Workshop and Symposium. Exciting yesterday on FPM and drug screening to stratify patients to therapy. Now Day2 and @DrTonyLetai speaking on what we have to do to prime cancer cells to therapy! @TheSFPM@kporkka
Great start of the second day at #FunctionalPrecisionMedicine for blood cancer symposium with focus on immunotherapy. Nice to see so much great work produced in transatlantic collaborations. @TheSFPM
Our work using single-cell and genome-scale CRISPR functional genomics to study the interaction of NK cells and blood cancer cells now out on bioRxiv: https://t.co/L9asxtKqy6

Great session at #FunctionalPrecisionMedicine for blood cancer workshop showing a lot about ex vivo assays and clinical trials. Very clear benefit using the assays on VenEx trial, great work by @LabKontro
Very excited to see this online! Many thanks to project lead, Dr. Cynthia Okoye-Okafor, our fantastic collaborators, and @JExpMed for a smooth publishing process.
Are physicians ready to adopt clinical decision support tools to interpret molecular profiling data?
