@TheEconomist Greece supports the recognition and sovereignty of Somaliland.
Somaliland has apply all standards and respected international laws. Show stability and potential growth. Maybe is time for full recognition and independence.
@IsraelHayomEng On 26 June 1960, Somaliland gained independence from Britain as a sovereign and internationally recognized state, receiving recognition from 35 countries. Just five days later, it entered into a rushed union with Somalia in the hope of achieving Somali unity.
As long as The Republic of Somaliland allows itself to be labeled as a “breakaway state” or as a “secessionist state” many Countries won’t bother to recognize Somaliland. The government and every citizen should on the spot correct those terms.
Speaking to The Economist, President Cirro acknowledged that Djibouti is the main actor destabilising the shared border with Somaliland. Djiboutian armed forces without insignia or uniforms, posing as local militias, have been fighting in the area for some time.
Somaliland should hit back at this little dictatorship hard and fast. The obese dictator & President for life who has enslaved Djiboutians should be removed sooner rather than later. His palace is less than 20km from the border area with us.

Washington's Red Sea Partner Is the One State It Refuses to Recognize
Fox News analysts say Houthi escalation is pushing Washington toward Somaliland as its dependable Red Sea partner. That sentence alone exposes a contradiction the State Department has dodged for two years.
Washington still treats Somaliland recognition as untouchable. The doctrine costs nothing to defend in speeches. Meanwhile the Pentagon's own analysts point at Berbera, because Mogadishu cannot secure its own capital, let alone the Gulf of Aden approach Washington needs held.
Turkey arms the Somali National Army. Qatar funds Villa Somalia. Washington bankrolls AUSSOM to keep Mogadishu standing. None of it has built a Somali state that can do what Somaliland already does without help: hold territory, run a port, keep the Houthis' war out of its waters.
Berbera was never the fallback. It was the plan the State Department refused to put on paper. Every month Washington delays recognition, it rents stability from a government that cannot deliver it, while the real security partner sits unrecognized ninety miles from the strait.

Absolutely, that's the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, just imagine if the people of the Republic of Somaliland choose to make friendship with the other side or this riged mountain areas become base for the lawlessness in Muqdisho

An East Africa Alliance?
Somaliland independence will be a huge news to East Africa and the free world. The soon to be sovereign country will have a coast and ports to serve two more countries: Ethiopia and South Sudan. The landlocked and "surrounded" East African countries will be able to use Somaliland's ports and coasts to have access to the Indian Ocean and Red Sea. South Sudan oil will be able to flow via pipelines via Ethiopia to Somaliland. Ethiopia will have access to ports and long coasts for commerce and military needs.
It is expected that the three East African countries could establish a security agreement for collective defense and counter terrorism partnerships between Berbera, Addis Abbeba and Juba. Israel, the UAE and the US could provide support to the Alliance.
Major development.
Thank you, Dr. Walid Phares, for once again sharing your insightful perspective on Somaliland and the wider strategic future of East Africa.
As an American-Somalilander, I truly appreciate your understanding of Somaliland’s potential—not only as a sovereign nation, but as a strategic gateway capable of connecting Somaliland, Ethiopia and South Sudan through trade, energy, ports and regional security.
Your vision of what cooperation among Berbera, Addis Ababa and Juba could mean for Red Sea security, counterterrorism and economic development deserves serious attention.
Most importantly, we appreciate your willingness to consistently include Somaliland in these important international discussions. Your insight, foresight and openness have demonstrated that you are truly a friend of Somaliland and its people.
Thank you, Dr. Walid Phares. Somalilanders appreciate your voice and friendship.

Today, we at the Somaliland Diaspora Council (SLDC) take a decisive step forward. After careful deliberation, we have officially initiated legal action against the Somalian government over its e-visa regime and the airspace dispute. This year, our people have endured unjustified obstacles- our summer holidays disrupted, our family visits delayed, and even mourners prevented from honouring the departed.
We have partnered with aviation experts and leading legal minds to ensure that this case is robust, precise, and carried with the utmost integrity. We are now preparing to bring this dispute to the International Court of Justice. Aviation freedom is a human right; it is not a privilege to be taxed or weaponised. SLDC will not rest until every Somalilander can travel freely, visit loved ones, and reclaim the dignity of their journeys. Stay with us-justice is within reach.@icao@CIJ_ICJ
Somalian Shadow Government Operating in Minnesota - Speech in Minnesota -
A foreign president delivered a speech to a Minneapolis audience and referred to American citizens as “my people,” and ordered them to fund his government’s airport. The organizer of the event is an unregistered foreign agent and al-shabaab supporter know as the "Governor of Minnesota"
Abdiqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali—Firdhiye, President of the Northeast State of Somalia—delivered his message at the Waqooyi Bari anniversary celebration. He treated the Minnesota Somali community as an operational extension of the political territory he claims in the United States.
Mobilizing a U.S.-based diaspora - Firdhiye thanked the audience for the “precious opportunity” to speak directly to “my people” living in America. He praised the effective and leading role of Minneapolis and the broader diaspora in the positive changes inside Somalia, especially Northeast Somalia.
He singled out the North American Somali community as among the most successful and directed them to continue that role. He declared that Northeast Somalia was created by the will of the people of Northeastern Somalia “wherever they may be.” He placed the diaspora inside that political constituency by definition.
He then called on all Somalis everywhere—explicitly including those in America—to work together toward achieving a Somali nation, to participate in nation-building, security, education, and development, and to create the conditions for Somalia’s restoration.
He stated that the progress achieved in state administrations is being led and overseen by the diaspora, especially those from North America and particularly Minneapolis.
When the head of foreign political administration addresses U.S. residents as “my people,” credits them with political results inside Somalia, and directs them to advance his government’s objectives, the organizational structure behind that relationship is the operational core.
The event was organized by Mahmoud Omar Isse, known among supporters as the “Governor of Minnesota.” That designation itself signals the structure: a local figure operating as the de facto representative and mobilizer for a foreign political administration inside the United States.
Formal representatives are already operating. Individuals are being directed to advocate, organize, recruit support, and advance the administration’s agenda. Money, infrastructure and Laascaanood.
Firdhiye stated that Northeast Somalia is engaged in building infrastructure, the economy, education, and healthcare. He announced new projects to be implemented in the northeastern regions and specifically identified construction of the Laascaanood (Las Canod) airport as the first priority.
He then issued a direct call: the diaspora of Northeastern Somalia and all of Somalia, and the Somali diaspora living across the world, must participate together in those development projects and take part in building the country and its development.
Money raised in Minnesota or elsewhere in the United States for projects administered by a foreign political authority creates a direct pipeline. Collection channels, organizations, deposit locations, expenditure controls, and oversight form the operational map.
A foreign political entity is soliciting material support from U.S. residents for projects under its control through a local organizer who functions as its Minnesota governor.
That pipeline requires full mapping.
The speech was explicitly political. The address was not limited to infrastructure.
Firdhiye defined Northeast Somalia as standing for the unity and cohesion of the Somali people and the preservation of the togetherness of the people and country of Somalia. He declared it opposes foreign interventions that divide the country and the Somali people.
He rejected anything that harms Somaliness, progress, peace, dignity, or nationhood. He warned of new dangers emerging from the Horn of Africa and demanded a national plan to defend Somalia, advance its governance, and secure its existence as a united entity.
He attacked separatism as a threat to the existence of the nation and the people of Somalia, warning that it could cause regression into a failed state. He called on the Somali people to stand together against that danger and to prevent Somalia from being divided.
An audience in Minnesota was addressed as a diaspora constituency inside an unresolved overseas political struggle and directed to act accordingly—under the organization of the man known as the “Governor of Minnesota.”
A constituency abroad - Firdhiye drew no distinction between Somalis inside his claimed territory and those living in America. Northeast Somalia exists by the will of Northeastern Somalis “wherever they may be.” The diaspora is written into the political narrative by residence-independent definition.
He repeatedly credited Minneapolis and the North American diaspora with leadership in political developments and progress inside Somalia.
He closed by specifically greeting the Northeast Somali diaspora, the broader Somali diaspora, those in North America and the United States, and those gathered in Minnesota and Minneapolis.Foreign political administrations treat diaspora populations as strategic assets for money, legitimacy, lobbying power, information, and influence.
This administration treats Minnesota’s Somali community as essential to its future and has installed a local operative titled the “Governor of Minnesota” to manage that relationship. Firdhiye closed by recognizing those gathered specifically in Minnesota.
Foreign political disputes do not remain foreign once foreign governments organize large overseas populations through designated local governors.
Influence operates through community organizations, business networks, fundraising committees, advocacy groups, religious and social institutions, political intermediaries, and personal relationships.
Collectively they form infrastructure through which an overseas administration exercises influence inside an American community under a named local command structure.
These questions that require answers.
The speech by Abdiqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye) and Isse's collaboration document a foreign political leader treating a Minnesota diaspora audience as a constituency capable of advancing his administration’s political and economic objectives, with Mahmoud Omar Isse functioning as the designated “Governor of Minnesota” for that effort.
These are the operational questions:
- Which Minnesota organizations does Mahmoud Omar Isse control or coordinate with on behalf of the Northeast Somalia administration under Firdhiye?
- How is the “Governor of Minnesota” title operationalized in fundraising, messaging, and recruitment?
- Have officials from the administration formally designated him or others as representatives or intermediaries in the United States?
- Is money being collected at these events?
What are your questions?
What do you want to see done?
I almost forgot to mention - Firdhiye's top General is also an al-Shabaab commander according to the UN Security Council report S/2025/777 paragraph 51.
