The United States spends tens of billions of dollars each year on foreign assistance.

There are legitimate reasons for some foreign assistance. Humanitarian emergencies, disaster relief, and strategic alliances can all serve American interests. But that doesn't mean every program deserves a blank check, especially when the federal government is already dealing with enormous deficits and American families are dealing with rising costs, housing problems, medical bills, and financial stress.

Foreign aid isn't just some abstract number on a government spreadsheet. It is money that ultimately comes from American taxpayers, and every dollar Washington spends overseas is a dollar that deserves to be questioned just like every dollar spent here at home.

The question shouldn't be whether America should ever help anyone overseas. The question should be whether American taxpayers are getting enough value from what their government is spending, and whether domestic needs are being taken seriously enough.

If Washington has billions of dollars to spend around the world, why are so many people here still struggling just to get by?

🚨 BREAKING — VENEZUELA’S #2 REFINERY SHUT DOWN

A major fire and reported explosions have rocked Venezuela’s Cardón Oil Refinery, forcing the entire facility offline and personnel to evacuate.

Cardón is Venezuela’s second-largest refinery, capable of processing roughly 310,000 barrels per day.

The fire reportedly began along a gas line connected to the diesel hydrotreater. The blaze was later brought under control, with no worker injuries reported so far.

For Venezuela, losing Cardón even temporarily matters: this is critical infrastructure in a refining system already struggling with outages, maintenance problems and feedstock shortages.
