Machakos Doctors Strike Hits Day 56
The healthcare system in Machakos County is on the brink of collapse as the ongoing doctors strike enters its 56th day.
Patient wards at the county referral hospital are empty, with some sections closed for renovations as those in need of treatment continue to suffer.
At the centre of the crisis is the county government’s refusal to honour the National Return-to-Work Formula on top of allegations that doctors salaries have been withheld.
It remains unclear how long the impasse will persist as the county administration has reportedly not made any tangible efforts to address the situation or engage the striking doctors.
Reducing maternal mortality remains a priority as @AfricaCDC kicks off an intensive 5-day training in Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care in Mombasa, #Kenya. Facilitators trained by @AfricaCDC are now empowering others, spreading essential skills across regions for lasting impact.

Ruto doesn't know the fire he lit by that callous statement he made yesterday. Now doctors have decided that they will go to media houses to respond to him directly, and he will know that he doesn't know. Team Courage reporting for duty and you love to see it.
This is not a fair discussion Sir @KenMijungu giving the @Nakhumicha_S so much latitude to spread lies and propaganda laced with a spice of hatred and arrogance against doctors and not bringing @Davji to give a counter opinion is subjecting us to mob justice #newshour@KTNNewsKE
