“You shout for liberty, yet you surrender your children to the mercies of capitalism which will seize them as soon as they leave school, and will devote their bones, muscles and brains to the task of grinding out profits for a boss.”
James Connelly. Hero.
Smith: "The reason we've got a Labour govt is because Starmer cleared antisemitism out of our party, he put our party back into the service of the British people when it had lost its way, that's why we were able to win a landslide"
Fewer people voted for Lab in 2024 than in 2019
LK introduces John Hutton as a former Labour cabinet minister. No mention of what he does today - chair of an arms manufacturer & the trade body representing investors in public-private partnerships!
I guess he sums up New Labour rather well - killing people & privatisation.
A GRIEVING MOTHER FOUGHT THE BRITISH ESTABLISHMENT FOR 24 YEARS AND PROVED IT WRONG FROM THE GRAVE
Kevin Williams was 15 when he died at Hillsborough on 15 April 1989. The original inquest ruled every single death happened by 3.15pm and refused to consider any evidence after that point.
Convenient cutoff. It meant nobody ever had to explain why an ambulance never reached him, or whether he could have survived.
His mother Anne Williams was not satisfied with convenient. She had medical evidence suggesting Kevin was alive well after the official cutoff.
South Yorkshire Police had a simpler version of events, one that blamed dying fans for their own deaths and altered statements to fit it.
So Anne spent the next two decades doing the job the police, the coroner, and the government should have done properly the first time.
She set up Hope For Hillsborough, then chaired the Hillsborough Justice Campaign @HJC_Official. She petitioned the Attorney General three times. Over 118,000 people signed her call for a fresh inquest. The establishment's strategy was simple. Wait her out.
It didn't work. In 2012 the Hillsborough Independent Panel confirmed what campaigners had said for years, the original verdicts were built on doctored evidence. The verdicts were quashed and a fresh inquest was ordered into all 96 deaths.
Anne died of cancer in April 2013, two weeks before that fresh inquest began. She never lived to hear the 2016 verdict that all 96 were killed. Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram @MetroMayorSteve, who has campaigned for a Hillsborough Law ever since, called her fight a symbol of unbreakable maternal love.
@BBC gave her a posthumous award later that year. A nice gesture, 24 years late.
The lesson is not complicated. One mother with no legal training out-investigated a police force, a coroner, and most of Whitehall, just by refusing to accept a story that didn't add up. If the truth had been told in 1989, none of this would have been necessary. It wasn't, so she made them tell it anyway.
Next time someone tells you to drop it and move on, think of Anne Williams. She didn't, and the country is still catching up to what she proved.

When Sean Luckett travelled to Hillsborough in April 1989, he was 20 years old and one of thousands of Liverpool supporters heading to the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest. He ended up in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in a coma. Two days later, Kenny Dalglish came to visit.
Dalglish had been going around the wards with Liverpool’s players, meeting supporters who had survived the disaster. Sean was still unconscious when Kenny arrived at his bedside. With Sean’s family gathered around him, Dalglish leaned in and said, “Hi there, wee man. Come on, you’ll be all right. We love your support.” Kenny then turned and began to walk away.
That was when everything changed. There was a scream. Dalglish turned around and Sean Luckett was sitting up. A consultant anaesthetist at the hospital later said, “I have never seen anything like it.”
Years afterwards, Sean learned another remarkable detail about that moment. When he first opened his eyes, the words he whispered were: “Kenny Dalglish.”
Sean later admitted he had no memory of the visit itself. He only knew the story because those around him had told it over the years. But through everything that followed Hillsborough, he never forgot the kindness shown by the man he had idolised as a boy. Then, 36 years later, the opportunity finally came to meet him properly.
Sean was invited to a Liverpool screening of a documentary about Dalglish. Before the film began, the two were introduced face to face. Sean told him that his mum wanted him to pass on a hug. Dalglish pulled him in and embraced him.
Then, as Sean started to walk away, Kenny called after him: “Don’t fall asleep.”
Later that evening, as Sean was leaving with his family, Dalglish came over one final time. He grabbed Sean’s hand and left him with one last line: “Great to fucking see you by the way!” 👑 ❤️
This attack was by a police officer from Northumbria police. That police force has recently destroyed documents relating to #Orgreave & the #MinersStrike This should all come out in the #OrgreaveInquiry@OrgreaveInquiry
⚡ The government says it wants a clean energy future built on skilled, well-paid union jobs. But where are those jobs? Connor has watched them go from Aberdeen. Now we have an opportunity to create thousands of apprenticeships leading to jobs in the electrical trade. Tell ministers to seize the chance. Proper apprenticeships. Proper jobs

“Football was popular because the poor were happy to play with a ball. When football turned into dishonest business, that is when the wealthy classes saw an opportunity in it, and since then it no longer belongs to the poor.”
— Marcelo Bielsa
Cuba is having its Deng moment. From the floor of the National Assembly:
"Socialism is not egalitarian poverty. It is the intelligent management of wealth to eliminate poverty.
Socialism is not the absence of a market. It is a market subordinated to socialist planning and the collective interest."
They taught their children to fear the word "socialism" while their government was overthrowing socialist governments across four continents.
They taught their children that democracy was their "greatest export" while their intelligence services were assassinating democratically elected leaders.
They taught their children that America had never lost a war while losing wars.
They taught their children that the market was "free" while using military force to open other countries' markets.
They taught their children that they were "the good guys" and then sent those children to places that had never been given the option of seeing them as anything else.
And the children came home broken, or did not come home, and the country called them "heroes" and moved on, and the next generation of children was taught the same things, and the cycle continued, and the people who profited from the cycle donated to the libraries and universities that produced the textbooks that kept the cycle running.
This is not a conspiracy.
This is an ecosystem.
And everyone inside an ecosystem experiences it as nature.
Increible! Soy un tio informado, miro noticias muchas horas. Diarios, X, Instagram, etc. Es la primera noticia sobre ésto que veo. No le he visto ni en la tele, ni en la radio, webs, nada. La información está secuestrada

Liverpool wear their famous Red shirts for the first time in the 1914 FA Cup final the last final played at the old Crystal Palace ground in South London. Huge Liverpool support travelled from Lancashire. Liverpool had to wait 51 more years before winning the FA Cup
