One of the most beloved free-to-use photos in the Library's collection is of Brünnhilde, for obvious reasons. We're happy to report that 2023 comes with a freshly digitized photograph of Brünnhilde from another angle. 😻

IT IS 2023 AND I AM ADMITTING THAT I HAVE NO INTENTION OF READING EVERY BOOK I BUY. I LIKE COLLECTING THEM. I LIKE HAVING LOTS OF THEM AROUND. I LIKE BEING SURROUNDED BY STORIES AND POSSIBILITIES. I WANT A LIBRARY. I AM NOT A BOOK MINIMALIST LEAVE ME ALONE (WITH MY BOOKS).
As promised, here are Ten New Year’s Resolutions for Editors. They're resolutions you really can keep.
Resolution for Editors No. 1: To read every word of a draft before making changes. (Yes, this is hard. But if time permits, a good practice.)
@reiasangria @silentkil_er If there weren’t liner notes (always felt like such a rip-off) or if it was the radio or something I’d be listening really closely to see if I could figure out the lyrics because there was nowhere to look them up if I couldn’t parse something.
@SimoneStolzoff If I’m having trouble deciding what to do and one of the things I need to do is eat, do that first. I’ll usually get the mental clarity to figure out order of operations for everything else once I have some food in me.
Best part of I’m Too Sexy is your journey when he goes “I’m a model” and you’re like “Got it” but then he says “You know what I mean?” and you’re like “I thought I did but now I’m not sure” but then he goes “I do my little turn on the catwalk” and you’re like “Okay I did get it.”
@JayHulmePoet I live in area where the power goes out a few times every year (hurricanes, blizzards) and I do this when I expect an outage so that I have something warm of the power’s still out the next day, it’s very comforting.
@CatieOsaurus I’m usually looking up how the spells I’ve prepared work, which will make me miss things but what’s more useful is taking graphic notes, which are fun to look back on.
@gingerreckoning@CatieOsaurus I take graphic notes, a mixture of doodles and words. The doodles help put me back in the headspace I need to remember and the words help with precision. This might do the opposite of what you need if you tend to get lost in doodling, I find it helps me pay attention but ymmv.
