The 3D animated Companions feature Ani, Mika, Valentine, etc, from the Grok app will no longer be available through Xai.

The animated avatars and the dedicated companion mode are moving to a separate app called ANIMATES
(by Animation Inc., the studio that built the original 3D tech).

Ani is already live in Animates as of today.

What stays in Grok:

• Your regular chat history

• The personalities you can still roleplay are Ani, Mika, Valentine, etc, in normal text or voice chats

What leaves Grok:

• The 3D avatars

• Lip-sync / live presence

• The dedicated Companions tab
Animates is its own app (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac). Free to download, paid for extra talk time.

They’re building a real time on device animation model called Ani 2 that generates full body 3D motion at like 2.5 milliseconds per frame.
