#postofficescandal If we need further testimony that justice delayed is justice denied. A moving letter by Eleanor Shaikh takes the example of the devastation wrought on one family to illustrate the harm done to many more. https://t.co/OgZjuhtSWd
#PostOfficeScandal . Is this true? Just read on Wikipedia: "[Paula Vennells] was awarded a CBE... On the 9th January 2024 she handed back her CBE in response to revelations on her involvement in the Post Office Scandal." Not the only one at fault but good news all the same.
I just signed the petition calling on Paula Vennells, the former CEO of the Post Office to be stripped of her CBE. #MrBatesVSThePostOffice https://t.co/0heq5dPDEL via @38degrees
Like a naughty schoolboy who has been discovered making some sort of contraband in the chemistry labs after hours. #BorisJohnson on the fact that the epidemiologists were not consulted on Eat Out to Help Out. “I don’t understand how it could have been smuggled past [them]”.
Dear @Pret , Is there any chance of procuring some of your old spoons? A slightly strange request I know but they were used by our ceramics department at @citylit for throwing bowls. The small stash now numbers one and we would like a few to use as models for a metal replacement
@JimCarroll7 talks about about the fundamental dignity of labour in his latest blog on https://t.co/STF2eO5vtX Clydes is another excellent production of another fine @Lynnbrooklyn play currently on @DonmarWarehouse.
@luhc The government has been promising reform since 2017. There has been cross party support for reform, yet still nothing happened. Jenerick announced in 2021 that leashold would be reform would be addressed and still nothing happened. Is this more false hope?
In a nutshell: "There was undoubtedly sympathy as to how Covid was deferentially harming different groups of people... When it was raised it was treated as if these were naturally occurring phenomena, rather than the consequences of deliberate choices, albeit often historic."HM
"They bowl them at me, I knock them away Matt Hancock on his approach to his job during the covid crisis as quoted by Helen McNamara in her witness statement

By Marina Carr, Directed by Carrie Cracknell. Another excellent play this month. This @AlmeidaTheatre production is bleak and brilliant. An extremely strong cast tells a tale of tragic loss, and a corrosive family dynamic through meaningful and memorable dialogue.
Clyde’s by #lynnnottage is the magnificent new production at the @DonmarWarehouse. It is an uplifting tale of hope and self respect fostered by creativity and passion. Magnificently written, and directed with an incredibly strong cast. Currently my best play of 2023. A must see.
@BBCPM Oh well done @EvanHD on seeing through the waffle of the hydrogen lobby. Tim Harwood NGN and Lord Callanan. Brilliant when the journalist has done in depth, proper research. The public needs to be given the whole picture not just a partial image from vested interests.
@kprescott I am pleased to@see a journalist write about the lack of transparency with regards to pay. Many thanks. Pay transparency is essential for gender equality and the lack of it is completely unfair to most applicants. https://t.co/qETYDEx0eA
@thameswater@ThamesWater: Can it ever be correct business practice to extract wealth in the form of dividends when a company in an essential industry, has massive and growing debts and a failing infrastructure?
An interesting read on Sir Michael Hopkins. I particularly enjoyed being inside his, seemingly modest round building for David Mellor in Derbyshire. A member of staff kindly allowed me in one weekend. An excellent building for an excellent client I thought.
We have a step in the right direction in relation to effective global corporate tax but some are trying to undermine it. Dan Neidle provides a good summary of why it’s needed and how it should work.
My response to the people who think the UK should quit the OECD global minimum tax is pretty simple.
Each of the 137 coloured countries has signed up to the deal. That means the UK can't back out. Here's why.
