@meekrabs@TownsUsa This is a fascinating point. I don't spend much time down South so I haven't seen it first hand, but it's interesting how a household could substitute one for the other. Also no worries about going on-you're approaching this much more thoughtfully than other commenters so
@meekrabs@TownsUsa I hear you, and I truly am glad for them. It seems like a lot of fun if you're into that kind of thing! I take it you grew up in that so it means a lot to you. My point is other areas/subcultures find their own meaning making communities accordingly.
@TownsUsa There’s nothing wrong with liking sports, but basically no other hobby is so self-important as to assume random other people have opinions on local minutiae like this! Bonding over trivia is universal yes, but most people just have the decency to check that you care first.
@meekrabs@TownsUsa I get it, they like sports lol. You don’t need to share that opinion to understand it. And you certainly don’t need to share it to have communal hobbies as OP implies.
@TownsUsa lmao sports don’t corner the market on communal bonding. Do you have money in sports marketing or something? There’s not a special moral or social weight to being into sports and it’s weird when people pretend there is.
@lukei4655@MatieNicholls@ABC This is just rent-seeking lmao. The state, and especially its citizenry, is under no obligation to advocate for or share your religion’s definition of marriage or any other special interest group priority. Stay in your lane!
@UrbanCourtyard@aedanchead@someguyjack Someone disagreeing with you doesn't make them a bot. Keeping a useless building around, even a pretty one, itself contributes to sprawl. Beyond that though, it seems the church outlived the school. Not clear sprawl is to blame, so much as Americans getting over religion finally.
@nbcwashington Absolutely disgusting what drivers can get away with in this country. This driver is scum. At bare minimum he should never drive a vehicle again.
@JasquezLant@kiwiyaah@Fleechiru@dimmidome42108 Guy who thinks loanwords statically retain their original meaning in the borrowing language, colloquial use never drifts, and there are never any complications in translating those evolved terms back to the original language.
@MichaelWebert@ChazNuttycombe The people on video are behaving exactly like themselves. You don't get to pretend they're welcoming when the evidence shows exactly otherwise. It's even worse to blame their behavior on your political opponents. Take some accountability.
@CindyCoops@metacontrarian If you’d like to share any papers or other work you’ve written I’m all ears! Otherwise you’ve only left your performance here to judge… Not much to work from. You can always go back to school if you think you need to improve.
@CindyCoops@metacontrarian Lmao I do policy analysis for a living buddy. Philosophical differences aside, you’ve already shown you’re not exactly reading at the required level here. Work on inferences and differences between similar words.
@CindyCoops@metacontrarian Oh I get it now, you just don't know how to read. Yes, obviously a new tax is there "because" the government wants money. However, it was *designed* with the shortcomings of other taxes in mind. Such as people dodging NYC income taxes, legally or others.
@CindyCoops@metacontrarian Congrats on missing the point entirely. The new tax is designed to address previous dodging: claiming residence elsewhere to avoid NYC taxes. Now they can own up to their actual NYC residence or eat the pied-à-terre rate. Don't accuse people of lying because you don't understand.
@CindyCoops@metacontrarian Maybe if you count their nominal rate. The point is kinda that they’ve been dodging and cheating their way out of that rate as the typical case.
