Spot on. Modern graphics APIs raised the barrier to entry so high that it killed off the indie engine scene and partly led to the creation of the current game engine monopoly plague. Indies lack a simple and easily accessible graphics API.

The closer the date I set for myself to quit my job is, the more uncertain I am about this decision. I currently have a high paying job at HFT fund. It might be hard to find another one and I see a lot of people fail as enrrepreneurs.

I also feel like ai has really lowered an entry barrier for B2C apps. The competition is much bigger now and there is an overall sentiment of people being tired of new apps.
