ایک ریٹائرڈ کسٹم آفیسر کہتے ہیں ایک دن بین الاقوامی فلائٹ کی بورڈنگ کے دوران لاؤنج میں یک دم شور شرابہ شروع ہو گیا۔ میں چونکہ انچارج تھا بھاگم بھاگ جائے وقوعہ پر پہنچا تو ایک 30 پینتیس سالہ خاتون جوتوں سے ہمارے ایک سٹاف ممبر کی پٹائی کر رہی تھی اور ساتھ دوسرے لوگ بھی حصہ ڈال رہے تھے، خاتون کو شانت کروا کر پوچھا کہ اس زیادتی کی وجہ بیان فرمائیں؟
خاتون کہنے لگی” میں نے اسے کہا کہ بیگ اٹھا کر سکینر مشین پہ رکھ دو، یہ کہتا خود رکھو میں ملازم نہیں تمہارا، میں نے کہا کہ میں پریگننٹ ہوں، تو آگے سے کہتا ہے کہ او بی بی۔۔۔۔ اسیں آپ بڑے وڈے پریگننٹ آں۔“
میں نے اس سٹاف ممبر سے پوچھا” تمہیں پریگننٹ کا مطلب پتہ ہے۔ “
کہنے لگا” میں نے سوچا کوئی وڈی ای شئے ہوسی جیہڑا ایہہ بی بی تڑی لا رہی ہے مینوں کہ بیگ توں چک کے رکھ میں پریگننٹ آں، میں کیہا اینج تے فیر ساڈے توں وڈا پریگننٹ کون ہو سکدا اے؟“

One of the first things that children learn is that the sky is ‘blue’.

Except when it isn’t. Which is much of the time across urban Pakistan, where industrial and vehicular pollution leaves skies white and washed out. A visible sign that the air we breathe is harming our health, our livelihoods and our children’s future.

This World Environment Day, let us not forget that the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment is a constitutional right, not a luxury.

سرکاری دستاویز کے مطابق ملک میں رواں مالی سال 2025۔26کے دوران گزشتہ مالی سال 2024۔25 کےمقابلے میں گدھوں سمیت مختلف مویشیوں کی تعداد میں اضافہ دیکھنے میں آیا ہے۔گدھوں کی تعداد میں ایک لاکھ 13 ہزار کا اضافہ ہواجس کے بعد ان کی مجموعی تعداد 60لاکھ 47 ہزار سے بڑھ کر 61 لاکھ 60 ہزار ہوگئی ہے۔
