I had so much fun sharing some #scicomm and chemistry puzzles and fun activities with @launch_waterloo students during their spring break workshop series this afternoon!
Thank you for the invitation! 😊
@RacicotLeanne Almost every double bond in the rings... it hurts so much!!! Carbons with 5 or even 6 bonds, and breaking all rules of adjacent pi bonding... 🙀

This is such important advice! Science is about collaboration, but it can also be a struggle.
Finding a way to share this, and also normalize having a work-life balance when we share #scicomm stories is so important!
#SciComm tip - when you're communicating about your science or research journey, or when profiling another scientist, don't leave out stories about struggles, work-life balance, and how teamwork was critical to success. Let's not "sell" science as a solo "genius" endeavor.
@leah_mcmunn@AmandaBongers@uOttawaCHM There actually is one for science grad students at Ottawa! When I was there though, chem students couldn’t do it for credit, and I didn’t have time to take it :(

Fluorescence is a type of “glow” where electrons absorb incoming light. This causes the electron to have more energy and “get excited”.
The electron eventually “relaxes”, releasing that absorbed energy once again as a photon of light, usually of a different colour!
Very excited to be listening to this fantastic #SciComm panel!
Definitely sitting here with a pen and notebook taking notes to think about and reflect on later!
Chem and #scicomm are so engrained in my subconscious that during the thunderstorm last night, I started dreaming about performing chemistry demo explosions.
When I did wake up from thunder, my first thought was obviously So that’s why I was dreaming about the thermite reaction
@EoloSon Hi Cristian! No hard feeling on my end, my comments were aimed at showing that there are equally valid scicomm opportunities that aren’t in traditional science academia, and maybe support anyone reading who may have felt or are feeling imposter syndrome or doubt
